SGA- 5-13 : Inquisition SMOKING WTF?

Are they so desperate for money that they need to show the protagonists of Atlantis smoking cigars to make ends meet?

Are they even allowed to do that?

Its totally unacceptable for a TV-show shown at prime time with an audience that includes kids to advocate smoking as a cool thing to do.

That on top of what was essentially a recap filler episode makes this possible the worst Atlantis show i have ever seen.

actually it does matter, it kills, in a way its a form of suicide. People have the choice whether they do it or not, but they shouldn't be able to advertise on a young people targeted TV show.

if someones kids are to young to know smoking is bad then they shouldnt be up that late, and if they are old enough to know that smoking is bad and they do it anyway, im pretty sure later on in life when asked why they started they wont be telling a story of how they saw it on stargate atlantis

I have a doctor who died of lung cancer, yet he never smoked 1 cigarette.
besides, its common for people to celebrate with a stogey.

The alcohol that they were drinking will also kill them if they drink it to a sufficient quantity. All the running about shooting guns would get people killed as well if you were to do it. Fast food is high fat and will kill you if you eat allot of it, and to take the argument to the nth degree. There is a proven link between nuns and breast cancer. (Something to do with them not having children) so should all adverts for the army be taken off the TV? Should the image of a cheese burger being eaten be taken out of TV that children could watch as well? Should all religious programs that show nuns be cancelled?
Most things will kill you these days. To try and coddle our children and keep them safe from all harm is an unrealistic goal. Accept that they will be exposed to things that are bad for them. Try and change their minds through education rather than censorship as being told you cant have something only makes children want it even more

Dude, cut the whining.
It shows them enjoying a cigar and having a drink, which is a typical showing of celebration.
If you want a G rated TV show on primetime, nag them to play Sesame street or Barney then

Wow I can't believe there is an argument over this. It was an obvious nod to the show Boston Legal, which at the end of each episode William Shatner's character and James Spader's (the original Daniel Jackson if you remember) share a glass of scotch and a cigar on the balcony. Even Wolsey's comments at the end are reminiscent of Shatner's Danny Crane. I think the ending was a little cheesy maybe, but probably the best part of the episode.

On this show we see one person shoot and kill an other person all the time. And smoking a cigar is what you abject too. Get a perspective. I do agree this was a filler show with only small plot advancements. I still like the show and am sorry to see it go. I am excited about the new star-trek movie and hope to see if a new series can come of it. I would also like to hear more of stargate universe if anyone has any new info.

lmfaoHowza you are a freakin moronA; Cigars are a traditional celebration (Independence Day, Child Births, etc)B; Smoking is gonna happen every day around everyone, it's up to the individual to choose not to smokeC; You're not even supposed to inhale a Cigar you just savor the flavor, so it's not even all that bad for you in the first placeD; In a show that's central theme is Violence and Death to complain about them smoking a cigar is hypocritical and downright uneducated.
So in conclusion get a life you cry baby.........This smoke is for you!

Same here, I would love to add my 2 pence aswell, though I think you've suffered enough for your rediculous statement and total lack of sanity.
It's a well known fact that every show like Atlantis, occasionally has a 'flashback' episode, usually because the producers want to save money for the big, end of season finale (or in this case, end of show)
As Jaximus has pointed out also, there are far worse things on this show for kids to see, other than a couple of guys enjoying a celebritory cigar!. THERE ARE LIFE SUCKING ALIENS, PEOPLE GETTING SHOT, STABBED, HIT AND BLOWN UP FOR GODS SAKES!!, Christ we live in an age where a 15 year old kid can be locked up for life or executed because he picked up a gun and shot 12 people stone dead because he 'saw someone do it on t.v'.
Anyone who finds this 'cigar' thing a grave injustice seriously needs to get some perspective on life, While smoking is a nasty habit and I would hope to think my kids would have more sense, I would much rather they enjoyed to occasional cigar and a bit of whiskey than end up out on the streets getting into god knows what sort of trouble.

As no one else has commented on this so far i will. How exactly are they so desperate for money and how will smoking cigars at the end of and episode gain this???
Was there a cheezy placement where they said nothing like a (insert brand name) cigar to celebrate a win? All i can think is you believe all cigar companies have joined forces to put there money into stargate to anonymously to advertise cigars. I could go on there is so many flaws in your arguement, overall generall consensus the epsiode was bad but atleast we got to see more of wolsey, he's slowly becoming a better character.
