Dollhouse name code ???????????

Is it just me but has anyone else noticied that the names for the 'dolls' are also then international letter codes e.g

Echo = E

Alpha =A

Sierra =S

Can anyone remember the hearing the names of any of the other 'dolls' when their in the house either the ones who died or the new one's?

yes, i put that in my review for the second episode when it dawned on me that the names were international phonetics. Apparantly there is a character coming up called November which is 'N' and in episode three we had Victor which is V. I didn't get it in the pilot as I thought she was called Echo because she echoes real people's personalities and didn't really hear Sierra's name to ake the connection. Only reason I figured it out was because I used to work in a call centre where we had to use them everyday! lol
it's quite clever as there is potential to have loads of actives and not keep the focus on Echo every week.

I'd been waiting for ages to watch dollhouse but waited till today to watch 3 together so it was easier to pick up on. Do you think that the letters will become a word as they did mention that they reuse the names that they give them if something happens to them.I'm really enjoying Dollhouse and hope that J.Whedon gets to finish this series and not get mucked about as he did with Firefly.You could have gone for the 'I was in the poilce/army/fireman thats why I noticed the letters' call center doesn't really have the same mystery :>).I did noticed your review straight after I posted next time I'll check better.

International letters are the words that are used by police army or any rescue service when they want to spell out say a number plate they would say Sierra tango foxtrot instead of saying STF so that they are not miss heard over the radio and as the same words are used all over the world anybody would know what they where saying.Hope that helped explain.

yeah, call centre worker doesn't really have the whole 'international man of mystery' about it!lol. Well, the network has said they will air all episodes that have been recorded so far regardless of being cancelled but I hope it isn't.
I don't think the names will spell out anything as they are already in code and what would they need to spell out? Think it's just more of a designation more than anything else as that's why the Dollhouse had to get more actives after Alpha butchering loads of them.

do you think the names are just randomly chosen from the internation letter codes, or are they given in order? can we assume that there are at least 22 actives (since they have V-Victor)?

Well, the show will probably focus on about 5 or 6 because it has taken the Dollhouse a while to replace actives from when Alpha slaughtered most of them.

I vaguely remember them mentioning that Alpha was the first (or did they say "best"?). If I'm recalling correctly, then yeah, probably safe to assume they're named in order and there were at least 22 before Alpha killed a bunch. Since Sierra's the newest one (brought in after Alpha massacre) then the Dollhouse has at least up to the letter S, + the ones that survived.

I seem to remember someone saying 'so this is the new Sierra' so if they're doubling up on the names then maybe there is always roughly 26 ongoing actives but I would imagine that it would take a lot of experimentation and failure to get to the stage they're at so the "Attic" must be quite full !?Now I'm going to watch the new one :>)

You're totally right about the name code (or so I think :-)) V = Victor...
