Rookie Blue “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” Review

This season of Rookie Blue picked up three months after last season and gave us a guest appearance from Captain Kirk himself in the aptly titled episode, “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life.” For Andy, that first day meant her first day back on the job after her suspension, a return she celebrated by skydiving. Something tells me she hasn’t completely changed after 12 weeks off.

She definitely hasn’t completely gotten over Sam…and he certainly hasn’t gotten over her. He also hasn’t forgiven her for abiding by the instructions that she should stay away from him during her leave. Love is supposed to conquer all, but it seems like Andy was all too willing to put the job first.

Of course, she doesn’t apply that same pragmatism to following the rule that she not get involved in a case until after a tribunal clears her to return to the force. When Sam is driving her back from the airport, they get into a pile-up which leads them to a girl who had been missing for seven years. Her grandfather, played by William Shatner, had created the accident because he saw his missing granddaughter in the back of a man’s van. Read More...
