A New Beginning?

I'm sure any Smallville fan has heard that Smallville season 8 is supposed to be its last. I am one of those fans who won't accept that. So, I had just been thinking, about ways they could carry on the series, when I realized it was impossible. Smallville is about teenage Superman... the before days. He's already at the Daily Planet and show writers are already pushing their limits (I have no problem with that). We all know that Smallville does have to end before Tom Welling hits 50. So, how could they continue on? Here's what I thought. Smallville has such a huge response, and fans always want more. If producers and writers can get Tom Welling to finally wear his underwear outside his pants, then maybe they can make a completely different series... like a run- off series. Just like That's so Raven and Cory in the house. The Raven series was done, but they wanted to keep going, so they created Cory in the House. I hope they can do that with Smallville. Please comment!

i think it would be really cool if they did a justice leaugue tv series, as this has never been done before, not with real people anyway, use the actors and charactors they hve already gained and created, i think this would be a fantastic oportunity, with bruce wayne and oliver queen paying for the space craft they use being built, then them savingthe world, this would be awesome!!

Season 8 will be the final season of Smallville, but it isn't the end at all!
The rumour I heard about why they haven't ditched Tom Welling and his fellow cast members yet is because they want to bring out a Smallville movie! The series is leading up to it (he's in the Daily Planet, the romance between he and Lois is growing, all he needs is his suit and the ability to fly!) and will end on some cliffhanger (obviously!) which will then be picked up in the Ultimate Superman film - with the cast from Smallville. I would assume that's when his Superman suit gets an airing!
With that in mind, I've heard a lot of rumours that Justice League, and a few other of the DC comics will be made into spin-off movies that also have the Smallville cast. I believe this is in retaliation to the recent export of Marvel films like The Hulk and Iron Man.
Hopefully the fact each the potential Superman and Justice League films have a backstory within Smallville means that if this rumour I've heard ends up being true, the films could be the most awesome ending to one of the greatest tv shows ever.

you are dreaming. they cannoy vreate a spin off series. clark is way to young to become superman. he doesnt dawn the costume till much later like in his early 30s and he is in his early 20s now.unless he takes the lame route of having jo'el erase everyones mind from lois to jimmy olson to tess mercer to lex luthor they all know what he looks lie without glasses. clark has to grow up probably get bigger and hange in appearence so not everyone in the free world wil know what he looks like as superman. your dreams of a direct spin off are pipe dreams at best. the only lame spin off you will see is some supporting character show if that would een happen. no i believe 8 years is a long time to be at the same job. everyone iwll move on and in a few years something else based on superman will be in theatres and/or tv. everytime something with superman comes out it does good.

what you are forgetting, and i get this impression from the way the story is going, is that Clark CAN don the cape and tights, just as long as he acts fast enough as Superman to not get his face caught in any pictures, he just needs to moves super fast so his face always comes out a blur. (quoted from oliver queen "As long as your face doesnt get seen")

for one thing... Tom Welling is actually in his 30's. and who knows... they could start the whole thing as _____ years later, and suddenly he has the glasses, and that's how everyone thinks of him... with glasses. idk how they'll do it, but the thing is... they kind of have to. Before they do end the series, they have to explain/show how Clark gets the glasses.

Kalell is supposed, according to superman mythos and in the early seasons, when Jorell told him he had to go away for his training for some time. I believe in the comics it was at least ten years which helps explain the appearance change. On a side note I don't remember reading it but another extreme superman fan friend of mine told me one of the powers superman does have is to askew his appearance when he dons the Clark Kent outfit, and that is why nobody ever picks up on the subtle differences. Remember that in the Comics Clark Kent is his alter ego and Superman is his true form, the show has varied a bit from that idea but still the fact remains he is hiding his true identity from everyone who doesn't know his secret! And that identity is Kalell Son of Krypton not Clark

To be fair in the 90's version of superman, they were meant to be in their late 20's not early 30's so if they keep with that idea then they could perhaps work it. If they make a new series, whose to say they need to explain the glasses thing? they could just make a new new adventures of superman kinda ignoring smallville but wid da same actors n characters

There are still powers that haven't been addressed yet. They have addressed the main powers but there are more that superman uses in the comic books.

i dont know. alot of you have interesting theories on how to make him superman before the show ends.i would love to have a good resolution to this. i just dont see how with the modern story how it would tie into the old stories, like how lois had no feelings for clark but loved superman. i guess that sort of changed in lois & clark but not really if you think on it. in the last dedicated strictley superman animated series she still loved superman and although her and clark had a comical relationship she still busted his chops all the time. this lois was no different and she is sort of going to plan but just too early is all and i have a weird question. when does perry white get the daily planet and how. tess mercer sell it to him? a hostile takeover? cant see that happening with all of lex'es money and im curious to see what way lex would turn out. does he become this corporate giant like his dad was or does he become the criminal and lose everything. they have borrwed elements from the 70s and 80s movies with zod and the fortress but also elements from the comics metropolis was once in manhattan and for this show it is in kansas. im just confuesed but ive always been intrigued by superman so i love anything to do with the subject.

i dont think any of you understand that this is a diffrent story....yea it has most of the same heroes and villains but for the most part not the same story.
I dont think there going to make a movie cause superman returns wasnt bad.
i do think they will make a Justice League type of show..
And i do think they should end smallville, mainly cause the show is sooo good and they should end it like that instead of the story getting lame, cause the story was about clark becoming superman...and he's about to do that

Okay for one the only reason they haven't dumped Clark or Chloe is because they are contracted to work for Smallville until season 8. Where Lex and Lana where only contracted to season 7 and they agreed to do one more season to help the writers get them off the show. No Clark will not have the superman suit or be able to really fly because the Corporation that owns those parts of Superman are not selling cheaply, and the shows producers can't get enough money to make it happen. This season will be the last, and there will be no movie unless there is a huge demand for it. Which at this point there is still not enough fan base or revenue to even think about a movie.

I also noted that Metallo hasnt appeared yet, strange comparing to what a huge villain he is.
