'The New Normal' to One Million Moms: 'They would love it. They're represented'


At the Television Critics Association panel for NBC's new sitcom "The New Normal," creator Ryan Murphy was asked about the One Million Moms boycott of the show for being "harmful to our society." Murphy advises the group to give the show a chance."I wasn't surprised when I read that. I think every person and group has a right to protest something and not like something," says Murphy. "I think it's interesting when people take that position before they've seen it.""If they watch the show, I actually think they would love it. They're represented. Ellen Barkin is a member [of One Million Moms]," continues Murphy. "Not Ellen Barkin, the character. I just think the show's funny, but I think the show in many ways is about tolerance and a discussion of tolerance.
