TV ratings: Olympics fall significantly Thursday as games start winding down


Fast National ratings for Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012NBC's coverage of the Olympics hit its lowest mark of the 2012 Summer Games Thursday night. The Peacock still dominated the night as viewers watched Usain Bolt win his second straight 200-meter gold medal.The lower ratings for the games allowed a couple other shows to get back to their normal levels. CBS' "Big Brother" and ABC's "Rookie Blue" climbed back to their non-Olympic levels. (Pending updates, anyway: Some local markets carried NFL preseason games.)NBC drew 22.4 million viewers and a 13.4 rating/22 share in households in primetime, its smallest audience for this Olympics by several million viewers. CBS (5.8 million, 3.8/6) came in second, beating out ABC (5.1 million, 3.0/5). FOX finished fourth with 2.7 million viewers and a 1.7/3.
