Continuing the narrative from last week, “The Blackout Part II: Mock Debate” finds Will still vying for a seat as moderator of a Republican primary debate while regrettably covering the Casey Anthony case. Meanwhile, Neal attempts to infiltrate a troll community and romance brews, boils or falls cold among the News Night team. In other words, nothing of any real significance happened.
Skirting past the actual blackout, and rendering the entire point of this two-parter moot, “Mock Debate” moves forward slightly, still focusing on the Casey Anthony debate by offering the usual commentary on the case. Yes, it was overplayed. Yes, it was sensationalistic. We know that. Unfortunately, Sorkin doesn't seem to have any other point to bring to the table.
