'Parenthood's' Jason Katims spies CIA dramedy with 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' writer

Because "Parenthood" meets "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" would be an impossible pitch for anyone to resist, FOX has made a put pilot commitment for a CIA dramedy from "Parenthood" executive producer Jason Katims and "Smith" screenwriter Simon Kinberg.According to Deadline, the show won't follow a married couple but instead tracks a young upstart agent who develops an unexpected father-son bond with his veteran handler. Sounds a little like "Alias" if Sydney Bristow had a sex change.We'd watch anything with Katims' stamp on it (he also shepherded "Friday Night Lights" through its five seasons and won a richly deserved Emmy for writing the series finale), so this already sounds like one of the more promising pilots in contention for fall 2013. But don't get too excited just yet.
