'Resident Evil: Retribution' Blasts Past 3D 'Finding Nemo' at Box Office

"Resident Evil: Retribution" is on track to win the weekend at the domestic box office, after an $8.4 million Friday debut put it on a pace for a $22 million weekend.

That was enough to give the Screen Gems and Constantin Films movie the edge over Disney's 3D re-release of "Finding Nemo." That one took in about $5 million from 2,904 theaters Friday and is looking at $18 million for the three days. "Nemo" should benefit from bigger family crowds Saturday and Sunday, but doesn't look likely to overtake "Retribution."
