Last week, The Voice kicked off its third season with a three part premiere that did the job it came to do, which was to remind audiences why they love The Voice and to beat out The X Factor in Wednesday’s ratings war.
For its first fall season ever, The Voice, unlike the other talent shows on television, kept the original judges’ panel, but opted to change up the formatting a little with a new ‘knockout round’ that will allow the judges to steal each other’s teammates. This upped the anty on the banter and bickering as the judges fought to lure contestants to their teams, which made for a fun time.
In addition to the ever entertaining interactions of the judges, there is no shortage of talent this season on The Voice as well. The first three nights of blind auditions proved that there are still plenty of singers with big voices looking to be heard. Immediate standouts included Trevin Hunt, the 18 year old who took on Beyonce’s "Listen" for his blind audition, Gracia Harrison, the yodeling country singer with a beautiful voice, and Nicole Nelson, the self proclaimed hippie who made Adam fist pump when she agreed to join his team after her rendition of "Hallelujah."
Tonight The Voice continues its blind auditions in which the judges will work to build their teams up to the sixteen members they are allowed this season. With CeeLo lagging behind on adding talent to his group, he’s sure to be laying it on thick tonight to try to score some quality team members.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
