NEW GIRL: "NEIGHBORS" REVIEW

Bygone sitcom references set the tone for this week's "Neighbors," as a barely employed Jess dished out a bevy of new TV impressions to try out on the guys (much to their dismay). But the real focus of this episode was on the newneighbors, a beyond-hipster league of twenty-somethings with an affinity for 'chokes, hula hoops and sitars. It was almost painful to watch Schmidt's "ass-head" display this week, while also impossible to look away. Likewise, Jess's interplay with the neighbors was at once hilarious and facepalm-worthy. Not to say it wasn't funny, but the neighbors' general lack of pop culture exposure was a bit of a stretch. Yes, it is true that many young twenty-somethings nowadays opt out of buying a television "because it's cool," but to mistake Family Matters' iconic catchphrase as original material is just downright despicable, especially for a kid who grew up in the 1990s.
