It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 8 Review “Charlie’s Mom has Cancer”

Leave it to “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” to try and make cancer funny…though I could swear they’ve been down that road before. Whatever the case, on “Charlie’s Mom have Cancer” they did just that, not in the least because she didn’t really- she was just, as it turned out, following in her son’s awful, awful footsteps: “I learned it from watching you!” To that end, “IASIP” must be the only sitcom on television, period, where I would even consider the thought that they’d played cancer for laughs in the first place, much less for the second time!

Alas, maybe I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind- perhaps because of the poignant way comic Tig Notaro handled precisely that topic in her stand-up routine not too long ago- but, much like Dennis stated: “The cancer thing, for whatever reason, is just not grabbing me right now.” Read More...
