'American Horror Story: Asylum' recap: Christmas terrors in 'Unholy Night'

Holiday episodes are usually a great chance for TV shows to go all warm and fuzzy, but not "American Horror Story: Asylum." Unless you consider a killer Santa Claus, an evil nun and a duplicitous Nazi great examples of Christmas cheer.Throw in the alien abduction of a corpse and a serial killer's surviving victim vowing to "bury" him and you've got one endlessly twisted hour of TV. The really sick thing: most of it was a lot of fun.At least it was once we got past that overly appalling opening sequence. Ian McShane's guest turn as one of Briarcliff's permanently locked-away psychopaths was truly inspired, but the early scenes of his criminal past -- conversing with a little girl in his Santa outfit, tying up her parents and psychologically torturing then murdering them -- represented one of those unfortunate times when "AHS" confuses grisly true crime scenarios for genuinely chilling horror.The double murder and dialogue...
