NEW GIRL: "SANTA" REVIEW

T'was the season on New Girl this week, as the roomies made a collective decision to hit every Christmas party they could find before Nick flew home for the holidays. (But let's face it: he was never making that red eye flight anyway.) For Winston, it wasn't much of a good night for party hopping, as he spent pretty much the entire episode with a cranberry lodged in his ear. For everyone else, though, this merry adventure was all about the love troubles.

While things have been going Jess's way for the last couple episodes, she was confronted with a real humdinger this week when she ran into her ex-not-boyfriend-doctor-guy Sam (David Walton). This dilemma began at the gang's first stop, the lesbian cookie party, which as Schmidt put it was "all wreaths, no trees." As a precautionary measure, Jess used Winston's inability to hear as a way of tricking Sam into thinking that she was in a relationship with Winston. This turned out to be a fun little mixup storyline for Winston, who's lines this week mainly consisted of "What?" and "I don't know what's going on." While this scheme obviously didn't pan out for Jess, it was amusing to watch her clumsily avoid Sam, particularly during the second shindig where Jess kept running into various walls of glass. ("Ah!
