American Dad Season 8 Review “Finger Lenting Good”

It’s a little early in the year for a Mardi Gras/Lent episode, but American Dad decided to present us with "Finger Lenting Good" regardless. It’s actually a great fit for the show, with the excess of Mardi Gras and the restriction of Lent both offering their own unique set-ups for gags, ending up with a fairly satisfying, if not remarkable, episode.

The episode starts with Francine trying to convince the family to give up on their various vices, most of which were pretty firmly established in the series beforehand, although Steve’s threw me off. Does he always cry so frequently? It doesn’t really matter either way, given the elastic reality of American Dadon the whole, and the whole thing is efficiently established in the first act. I especially liked the gag that demonstrated how bad the family is at following through on their commitments: a stack of popsicles that had melted through their boxes, which was supposed to be a popsicle stick White House.
