Oscars 2013: Seth MacFarlane 'Family Guys' up the Academy Awards

The opening of the 2013 Academy Awards was a lot like an episode of "Family Guy": It had some tasteless jokes, musical numbers, a couple of cutaways and random celebrity guests, all filtered through the mind of Seth MacFarlane.None of that is much of a surprise: MacFarlane was wise to go with what works for him on the biggest stage of his career. The opening of the show started out feeling very much like a throwback to the Oscars of old, with MacFarlane rattling off a string of mostly funny one-liners about the movie business ("The story [of 'Argo'] was so top secret that the film's director is unknown to the academy").
