A SIDEREEL PROBLEM.

Ok seriously this has gone far enough.I have been using Sidereel pretty much from the start , although I just recently created a profile. Someone is deleting all the links, and has been doing so for a while. I don't know if ContentadminX( insert random number) is a real admin or if it's just a user like we are but he is deleting all links except for iTunes and the official ones ( like ABC.com or THEWB.com ) MY question is why ? It just makes the users angry and want to quit using sidereel.

When a ContentAdmin, one of the real SideReel admins, removes links except for the ones you mentioned, it is the direct result of the legal complaints of the copyright holder. SideReel has to comply with those legal requests to avoid being shut down. Thank you for your understanding.

So is this why I am seeing so many shows have almost no links except for iTunes and Amazon? I'm trying to watch Dexter, and all I see are those 2 links. I even went back to check and compare if the same thing happened to shows i know I've seen through here. I looked at the shield which i watched very recently and the links seem to be gone as well.

Wait nevermind. I see, the extra step [duh] is no big deal, especially if it keeps the feds from knocking down your door. Kinda makes the whole "Up Next" thing in my profile hit or miss though. Can't complain though, finding stuff online was much harder before i started using sidereel as my first stop.

For Television episode links, click the "Search for more sources" link under each episode.
For Movie links, look in the "Popular Searches" box.
However, yes, for some shows and movies (especially the front page new releases) there will be no other links besides the Amazon, iTunes, network, etc. because of legal complaints.

Well can't you put a disclaimer stating that due to shortage of staff all legal complaints will be dealt with during the next 36 hours? Or is that illegall in the States ?

or, how about putting less popular stuff on the front page. It sounds counter intuitive i know, but if the front page draws more legal action, then put less content on the front page and make that content something other than the most popular shows on there. That way its not such a big hit.
So to be clear though, are the pages currently locked with episodes removed going to have no more future episodes (other than amazon and itunes)? This would be tragic.

Moyan I don't think you understand. We can still put up links but when the copyrightholders make a legal complaint they have to be deleted.

as sidereel isnt hosting any videos, they cannot be held liable for posting a mere link.

lovehaight, you are obviously mistaken, or there'd be no need to remove said links in the face of complaint through legal channels.

As long as you can still watch Grey's for free on ABC.com why is it a big deal if the links to other sites are gone? Is ABC.com not free everywhere?

Yeah ABC only works in the US! But as bow-wow said just check the link history and start from there! Sidereel is a great help and anything the guys at Sidereel need to do themselves and the site safe is the least we as members should expect.
I'm just grateful sites like this exist. If I need to do a little extra work now to find my shows, well c'est la vie!
:D

Be careful finding your links in the history! Often they are there in the "trash" for good reason (malware, viruses, survey sites, etc.)
