Dentists ahoy!

Ok, this has been bugging me since the beginning of the show. Am I the only one who notices that the vampire fangs in this show are not where they should be? Fangs are the canines, and not the lateral incisors (this is who the teeth where the creators put the fangs are called). I really can't understand why would they do that. It's clearly not a simple mistake, because a show that's that thought through can't just have not noticed such an important detail. But it really grates on my nerves.

Hadn't considered that...but the fangs are kinda close to the center of the mouth. Maybe they just wanted to make them more prominent?Maybe the vampires have evolved over time. The show has already asserted that things like crosses and garlic don't faze them...so I feel like the show is taking the vampire myth and doing whatever they want to it...

That's one of the only things that make me mad about this show. The fangs look absolutely ridiculous!! Not as bad as the Buffy vamp faces, but still. You'd think with all our technology and stuff they'd be able to come up with something better.

RachelL - One thing is to become immune to garlic over time and another is that your teeth change positions.. So I don't think they've evolved. You're probably right that they just did what they thought would look better..)
Rawezx_x - I don't think tech is the problem, bc it's an unreal phenomenon itself. No fangs would look real, simply because we don't have them. However, positioning them where they should be would make it much more credible.

in books everyone has their diff version of vampires , how they look, what they are and arnt immune to. i agree that the teeth do look funny there but thats the way they wanted it so who cares.

Haha, I thought the fangs were weird too! Especially when they come out...it looked like they were playing with trick fangs or something =P I really liked the fangs in Underworld, best ones I've seen =) But I'm not complaining, True Blood is the best vamp. show I've seen in a long time

I know, right? That's honestly what's been bugging me most about the show so far. Not only are the fangs in a physiologically disadvantagous place, but the more in-your-face placement of them sort of ruins the whole sinister air and most vampires have. With the fangs where they should be, they're much less visible and therefore creepier in the same way that villians in horror movies are creepier if you can't quite see them clearly. This way vamps with fangs out can look like humans, except when they smile or decide to flash their teeth, it makes for a more dramatic effect than the giant and obvious ones here. That said, I do really love True Blood, this is probably the only thing about it that really bothers me.
I also LOVE the fangs in Underworld, but then again I love everything in Underworld (with the possible exception of some serious continuity errors XD)

Agreed. i think the worst ones were actually in the first vamp we saw, in the gas station of the first episode. When i first saw that, i distinctly remember thinking, "oh man, come on... not even the canines?" Some of the vamps' fangs look a bit better than others, though. The sound doesn't bother me; it's kind of fun.
