Which is better? True Blood or Fringe? (no Moonlight comments please)

Both have potential... But which is better?!?!?

I'm surprised to say so far I'm enjoying True Blood more. Sookie is a great character who's a lot of fun to watch, and I'm really enjoying her attitude of a bit of fun yet total fascination with vampires, making it not all about the creepy crazy world of vampires which alienates a good amount of viewers.
I felt a bit alienated as a viewer with the premiere of Fringe as there was stuff I didn't entirely follow or get, though I found it very cool. We'll see how Fringe's 2nd episode go - maybe it'll win me over!

Well, I've already given my viewpoint away on this in a couple of comments (that some people seemed to strongly disagree with). I was so hoping I would love it but I can't stand True Blood. I actually thinks it's unsalvageable. Of course that's a matter of opinion but in my case it's strongly held. As I said before, I think Anna Paquin should run away from this show. And sorry to violate the terms of comment but I wish they would bring Moonlight back.
I said that I like the idea (read "concept") of vampires living openly with regular people and someone challenged me on this by suggesting that that meant the show was good...NO! You could do it as a comedy ("A vampire walks into a bar.."); You could do it campy like Buffy; You could do it it a lot of different ways - but with True Blood I kept thinking of Ed Wood productions.
Go ahead and flame me, but that's my two cents...

Interesting. I have a slightly different take on it...
The premise of Vampires living openly with the rest of humanity seemed ridiculous(and still does). Of course, they could play that out in the show. And if they do go that route, and it seems like they are, it could work (doesn't necessarily mean the show will get renewed of course).
The end of the second episode gives me some hope that their may be a few bad ass vampires running around doing vampire-y things (you know, like biting people!). And, if they start biting people and killing people, just maybe the whole "we're living out in the open" will end and we'll get a really F'd up vampire show - which would be highly entertaining.
Fringe, on the other hand, has potential too. I think I'll keep watching both.

You do realize this is based on books. They can't just change the entire concept just because you don't like that they live openly........and you can't UNDO the "we're living out in the open", not to mention its not like that in the books. Sorry to sound bitchy but that's just my opinion.

You either hate it (true blood) or love it. Being an avid Southern Vampire series fan I'm totally loving the show. Fringe is growing on me, but I'm biased towards True blood.

So far it is easily true blood at the top of that list. Fringe to me is the new X-files. True blood has better dialog and acting. Very edgy and has more mystery than Fringe. I want more, Now! We kinda opened the episode a week early and now have to wait two weeks for more.

I really cant say which one i would prefer after just watching 2 episodes. I like both series, but at the moment i have a vampire-phase, so i am tending towards true blood. at the same time, the plot from fringe is far more engaging. its a bit like comparing apples and pears ...

I like True blood better, the sex is a bit much but i love the story they really did pick great actors who can pull off the characters i love it so much
I like fringe but the story isn't the best if feels like they need to add something else to it, don't get me wrong its still good but if i had to pick i would 100% pick true blood!

I just cant go further than half an hour with Fringe, and I really tried but I'm not caught in it! But True Blood really surprised me! I just love the show, I like the cast, the vampire description, the southern accent, the lovely grandma and have a deep interest in Bill and Sookie romance! This is the best vampire show ever, Buffy was something else, and twilight moonlight were just null and void!I rediscovered Anna Paquin and even watched The Piano again, I wanted to see Moyer in something else too, and watched 'the starter wife', I wonder how disturbing it will be to be in two tv show by the same period even if it's not the same genre at all!

I think Fringe is pretty well made - definitely one of the better new shows to hit TV this Fall - but...I still haven't watched the second episode! I am not finding it all that original; not enough to get super excited for it each week.True Blood - on the other hand - while certainly with flaws - I find to be an interesting new take on the "vampire show" that has definitely grabbed my attention.

I definitely say True Blood is the better show. Fringe just doesn't do it for me. I find it poorly acted, and a little far fetched (yes I know that seems odd, considering I like a show about vampires), with a different cast I think the show would be way better.
