Developed by writer and first-time showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (whose varied resume includes writing for Dexter for that show's first four seasons and writing all five Twilight films), ABC's midseason thriller Red Widow, about a woman who ends up working in organized crime, attempts to reel the viewer in with a sexy premise, an attractive cast and a gritty San Francisco backdrop. Unfortunately, beyond that, it fails to come up with anything wholly original or particularly compelling.
