Kings Cancellation

What is going on with these networks?! This is one of the BEST shows on TV!

Why don't they give the new shows a chance? Three episodes will not determine popularity! As soon as the show started they stopped promoting it..They are cancelling because of production cost I can guarantee you!

Unfortunately they leave on the idiot shows..do they think the only viewers are idiot?! If they are going by Neilson ratings, why haven't they asked me to do a Neilson rating? Where do they get these voters? Every time a show starts to really get going..it's gone! I'm just sick about this!

I got love for this show ... I enoy the overall concept altought it sometime leads to small lenghts in the episodes ... But i can sence a great plot is coming and i feel this show could surprise a few... I love that they made it a litle dark i always tought that was a plus for good dramas!

Un fortunably for Darker american tV shows only the educated and dedicated portion of fan really bites off into it ... And when you target viewers like those you have in the united states its either they all love or all hate it !!
If they would broadcast Kings on the internet on CBS.com at the same time or simply give 1 week if free viewings on internet after the show normal air date these shows would do wonders !!!
this is a show for the Hardcore tv show fans ... ala BSG/Firefly and unfortunably for them they are not displayd on the wright platform!!

The first night episode was amazing that last one lacked luster and if the rest of the season was the speed of the first two shows then this show couldve been great. Instead they will cancel it and put on reality tv or some other horrible show that will get canceled anyway in TRUE NBC fashion.

THe proportion of the American Population with a proper college degree is the same number at those with a passport, intelligent shows currently anywhere do not flourish, becuase profit is still the overreinding factor

By educated fans i meant ...
Fans that have a lot of experience with tv-series and that knows how to detect what makes a good show and what makes a bad one!
My comment was in no way pointiong towards the degree of school education ....
i meant that americans usually like more action packed shows then a Dark show with polotical and psycological bases like kings!!

In response to AlexxxFizz:
Firstly, I hate to be "that person" but, in truth, I would want to know if it were me, so don't take this as being mean or as some sort of crazy hypersensitive criticism, but I don't think (and maybe I'm wrong here) that the word "polotical" exists in the English language. Did you perhaps intend "political" or even "polemical"? I think either one would be a better fit. Again, I'm not writing this to be mean, but rather to be helpful.
But on to something of more substance: your argument that Americans trend towards more action-oriented programming than darker shows with psychological elements.
I must somewhat disagree with you on this. Look at show like "The West Wing" (a political, ambitious, long-running, somewhat niche-popular, series), "Battlestar Galactica" (lot of different elements, cancelled but had a good run, and decidedly dark), "Lost" (albeit currently lost in it's own plot--pun intended--) and some shows within the vein of the current "procedural" fad, i.e. your CSIs or your Law and Orders, all enjoyed modicums of success with American audiences.
I think it has more to do with the values and management of networks with a show cancellation. The truth is, "Kings" is probably quite expensive to produce. The production quality certainly impressive enough to warrant a fairly hefty price tag. All I'm saying is that more goes into the cancellation of a series than just the factor of what kind of show it is or the nationality and tastes of an audience; things like inner-network politics, extra-network politics, ad sales, bankability, and creative issues all contribute to the end of a series and, often times, we the viewers are never made aware of these issues (for various reasons).

I feel the same way about Kings. How dare these industry cats cancel a show, not ask me about it and think that the viewers are idiots? Television is a joke. I wish at least they would make an ending to the shows that they cancel. At least the viewers would get some closure. I know they don.t give a damn what viewers think, but the should.

This is just so unfair! If they keep cancelling new shows then no-one will start watching them as they know in all liklihood that they'll be cancelled!

It was a great show but just look at the numbers unfortunately
"The March 15, 2009 NBC premiere of Kings "was the lowest-rated program between 8 and 11 p.m. on a major broadcast network", garnering a 1.6 rating/4 share, below ABC, CBS, and Fox.[4] This was significantly lower than the ratings for NBC's programming on the previous Sunday, a Saturday Night Live clip show and a segment of Celebrity Apprentice.[36] Mediaweek magazine noted that "one year earlier in this block, the second half of a two-hour edition of Dateline and a repeat of Law & Order was considerably stronger at an average 6.3/10 in the overnights."[44] TV.com speculated that NBC underpromoted the show causing the lackluster pilot episode rating.[45]"
The show cost "$10 million [for] Sunday's two-hour debut and is [costing] another $4 million per episode, an extravagant sum for any show and especially so given the program drew only 6 million viewers overall."[50]"

It also went from having 6.07 million viewers it when down to 4.60 the second week.
Personally I think just being on NBC channel is a death sentence for shows. I mean no one watches that channel! Not only does it have the crappiest news but the worse compilations of crap programing ever strung together. There have been a good number of shows here and there that never had a chance to make it because they were on NBC. NBC needs to seriously revamp their entire network if they ever want to get the ratings of CBS or FOX. Until then ill be watching those channels, Showtime, and HBO. All online of course :P

yeah i totally agree dude. This show is off the chain and to cancel it would be a tragedy. I wish they would seriously reconsider their decision ans asked voters whole actually like the or even watched more than one freaking episode. Assholes

It was so clear they'd cancel the show on NBC. On HBO this would've been a hit. The viewer on HBO seems to be more intelligent...

They better not take my Kings... they've taken away to many great shows this year as it is... this is why I refuse to pay for cable... whats the point they take away everything that is worth watching and leave stupid reality tv and shows that that I would rather shoot myself then watch. DON'T TAKE KINGS!!!
