Many lost episodes...

It's very irritating that the episodes of many series such as bones, house md, supernatural and prison break are not on air every week. especially for those who don't live in U.S.A. like me, it was hard to find out when a new episode would de released. Every time i was't sure if where was no new episode or it just was not released in my country yet. Now with the sidereel it is really easier, but why is that happening? Is it going to stop?

Because they only make a set number of episodes to last an entire viewing season, and they have a thing in the States called Sweeps Week (or maybe more than one) when they try to boost their ratings as high as possible (which is when you usually see a big name guest star, a spectacular showing, etc). It's very irritating, I agree.

Well, the most recent lack of airing (read, yesterday and today) was due to the Elections. Last time I noticed a lapse was because of US debates which the channels were covering instead of airing the shows.

I was also wondering if it might have something to do with the writers strike.

Oh, well, this season it mostly has to do with the fact that it's an election year, when there were the debates regular programming didn't air either, but since it's over it should be pretty smooth the rest of the year.

If you check out imdb.com they list episodes and usually have dates so you know when the next one is coming.

While I agree that when a week is missed it bugs me a bit. However one benefit is that it eeks it out a little longer. Given the opportunity I gorge boxsets of my favourite shows all the eps in one day! lol! Like a box of chocies or a tub of Ben and Jerry's the odd week missing forces me to wait! So good eps are made even better by anticipation! :D
But maybe I'm a bit weird! lol

actually, i'm french and to know when is the next episode airing, i go on youtube and search for the trailer. if i just saw the smallville 8.10 bride, i search smallville 811 and then they write "January 15th". It's often written "NEXT WEEK" or "TWO WEEKS FROM TONIGHT", and then you know if it's airing or not.

Also, TV.com or epguides.com is very good for when the next shows are coming on. That's where I go when I need to relay when a show is returning or need to update a page on SideReel.

That's very good information because now with the series that are stopping till january or more it is useful to know when exactly are going to continue. About youtube I go to but sometimes it is not clear when is the next episode or the trailer is not ready or uploaded yet. That's very irritating!
