Glee Says Goodbye to Finn Hudson! SideReel's Editors Pay Tribute to Cory Monteith with His Most Memorable Musical Moments

The world mourned the loss of actor Cory Monteith this past July, but on Thursday, October 10th, Glee bids farewell to the character who helped start it all, one '80s monster jam cover at a time. Sigh. It's so hard to believe that Finn Hudson – the high school quarterback with a heart of gold whose musical talents were just-slightly-creepily discovered in a locker room shower – will no longer grace our television sets with his two adorably uncoordinated left feet. So before you tune in to "The Quarterback" and inevitably bawl your eyes out this week, take a trip with us down the McKinley High halls of seasons past and enjoy some of Cory's finest musical moments on the FOX musical series that finally put him on the map. In honor of Finn Hudson – and the lovable actor who played him who was gone much, much too soon – here are the SideReel Editors' favorite Finn musical moments.

Ruba's Pick: Don't Stop Believin'
Episode: Season 1, Episode 1 - "Pilot"

Why It's My Favorite: This quintessential Finn song stole the hearts of every viewer from the moment the show aired, bringing the message of Journey to a new generation.

Laura's Pick: Jump
Episode: Season 1, Episode 12 - "Mattress"

Why It's My Favorite: The New Directions finally show some REAL promise by booking a local mattress store commercial, foreshadowing greater things to come for the little Glee club that could! And c'mon – who can resist this face?!

Alex's Pick: Jessie's Girl
Episode: Season 1, Episode 18 - "Laryngitis"

Why It's My Favorite: Puh-lease – Jessie St. James was the worst thing to happen to Rachel Berry until... that tragically hot prostitute guy who broke her heart in New York. And Finn is the only guy who does a better karaoke version of this song than I do!

Zaz's Pick: Losing My Religion
Episode: Season 2, Episode 3 - "Grilled Cheesus"

Why It's My Favorite: I confess that grew up in the 80s, so this sends me back. Okay, fine, "Losing My Religion" came out in 1991, but in any case, Finn does right by one of the best REM songs of all time. The Stipe-like intensity was perfect, but I'm glad he didn't shave his head!

Leah's Pick: Just the Way You Are
Episode: Season 2, Episode 8 - "Furt"

Why It's My Favorite: Why not invite the entire high school glee club when Kurt's dad marries Finn's mom? Oh well, whatever, that's beside the point. THE POINT IS that it was pretty sweet/great of Finn to sing this Bruno Mars jam to his new step-brother. Aw.

Morgaine's Pick: Pretending
Episode: Season 2, Episode 22 - "New York"

Why It's My Favorite: It's not that often that Glee does an original song, so it's kinda a big deal that Finn got to sing this one. During the season finale. On stage. At Nationals. While simultaneously getting back together with Rachel. And sharing their most epic kiss. See, kinda a big deal.

Rachel's Pick: Bye Bye Bye / I Want It That Way
Episode: Season 4, Episode 16 - "Feud"

Why It's My Favorite: This was one of Cory's final episodes. There isn't a child of the '90s that isn't going to get nostalgically giddy over THE musical feud of the '90s – 'N Sync vs. Backstreet Boys. Glee totally nailed this mashup of "Bye Bye Bye" / "I Want It That Way", complete with 'N Sync-style puppet strings; it really was a delight to watch, even if we were technically witnessing a feuding Finn/Mr. Schue.

I loved Finn and Rachel's duet and Mr. Schue's wedding, "We've Got Tonight." Finn was so in love with Rachel there!

Finn singing, "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" for Santana was simply beautiful. It will forever be my favorite.

My favourite is the first song he ever sung on Glee- Can't fight this feeling. Such amazing talent! So sad!
