'The Daily Show' showrunner Rory Albanese exiting after seven years

2013 continues to be a transition year for "The Daily Show." After a summer spent with replacement host John Oliver while Jon Stewart was away directing a film, it's been revealed that showrunner Rory Albanese is making his departure.Deadline reports that Albanese is leaving his exec producer/showrunner position to pursue a career in primetime comedy. Albanese, who is also a standup comedian, has signed a double blind script development deal with Warner Bros TV and has sold a multi-cam comedy to CBS under the pact. His last day at "The Daily Show" will be Thursday (Oct. 10).Albanese has been with Comedy Central show for the past seven years, serving as executive producer for the last five.
