OUT OF THE FURNACE REVIEW

A throwback to the pained, poetic films of the 1970s, Out of the Furnace is set in the fading Pennsylvania steel town of Braddock and follows Russell Baze (Christian Bale), a well-meaning, hardworking blue collar guy seemingly destined for tragedy. Russell works in the local mill, helps look after his terminally ill dad, loves his girlfriend Lena (Zoe Saldana), and worries about the gambling habits of his ne'er-do-well kid brother Rodney (Casey Affleck), an Army veteran about to be stop-lossed into his fourth tour of duty in Iraq at the time we meet him.  Read More...
