Stargate Universe

So I think by the 3rd episode you'd be able to have a clear sense of whether or not you'd like a show. I think it has potential, but it'd have to change a lot to keep my viewer ship. A few things I've noticed so far in order of irritation.

1. Nicolas Rush. The main purpose of this writing, is the fact that I really really dislike Dr. Rush. I was watching 'Darkness' and my FAVORITE part of the entire series so far was the 15-20 minutes he was knocked unconscious. I really feel he add nothing but unnecessary tension and strain on the show, I can't stand his voice, and he doesn't pose the 'sense of reason' most brilliant scientists offer. Rather nothing more that just yelling and whining. Neither of which I want to watch in a show about being trapped in a huge friggin space ship.

2. The huge frigging space ship. Destiny? I can't stand that their scope of the show is so small to be confined on a ship when in the title they have 'Universe' I already feel bitter about being let down and the whole 'survivors trying to find their way home' makes the BSG theme song get stuck in my head. If they don't get off that ship in the next 2 episodes I'm bailing ship on this show.

3. Drama. I'm not a hardcore Stargate fan but the episodes I've watched are very enjoyable. Mostly because it's not one long drama all linked together. I really wish they would have kept the same format in SG-U. Again with the 'Universe' part attached I'd love to see them 'jump' (again not a SG guru) to one planet to save a gaggle of silverbacks then jump to another for tea with green people. If they have any chance of creating a show with longjevity time to drop the 12 episode 'movie'.

4. Eli Wallace. What is it with 'utter geniuses' in television being slackers. I hate the fact he also still acts like he's 10. Not 20 something and having gone through at least some college. He acts like he never has even had a beer. If he dropped out of MIT there had to have been a reason. Make him a rebel that womanizes and gets drunk - would have been a much more interesting character flaw that a meek geek that wets himself at seeing breasts. I do like that he likes 'toys' like the eye thing, but I would (I'm a geek) take it apart and see how it works, especially if there are plenty of them aboard the ship!

Not all is lost, I do really like Colonel young. I think Louis Ferreira nails the part perfectly. I hope to see more of him if this show doesn't get their act together.

Also the title is cool, and ummm the one guy who was in jail for some reason but is now out....

In short change everything SG-U and you could be a really great show :/

yeah personally if they don't find something slimy to shoot full of bullets soon I'm going to start getting a little muffed, also we've got this great ancient cellphones and instead of using them to have the useless rable exchange places with some of earths greatest minds to save the ship, all they do is talk about feelings and inspire mutiny. talk about a plot hole.

talking about these communication-pearls.
why the heck, if they lack of people understanding ancient technology, don't they send over daniel jackson or rodney mckay through the comm-device???they could make sense of the ship in no time and repair what's necessary.
I'm also getting tired of the whining all the time... if there would be one or two civilians whining around all the time, military strong brave, civilians weak and whiney... ok.. could live with it... but all the "well trained soldiers" who are supposed to be "best of the best" (or the wouldn't have gotten into SG-Project) crying about wanting to go home... who wants to see that? not me, that's for sure.
And another thing: EVERY SG-Series had "alien"-helpers... wether it's te'alc on SG1 or Ronan and others on SGA... SGU still has no alien life to help them...Is it just me, or is there a huge SG-Part missing in SGU?
still going to watch it... hope dies last...

It's dull. The characters are cliche and 'lite' and the situation is old. I can't see it lasting.

I'm so happy to see others agree... WTF I don't know SG very well but I've read other reads and they hate it for the lake of authenticity. n00bs to SG (like me) hate it cause it's a group of whiny bitches on a big fucking ship... I'm really hoping it ends up being a good show, honestly I dunno why but they still have my attention for a few more episodes. Wrap up this 'episode' give everyone a medal and on to the next adventure.

If they killed off Rush, I'd be happy. He's such a whiny a-hole. I mean, really?I agree that he's supposed to be some genius who has big know it all with alien technology, but the whole- him yelling and bitching and moaning every minute of every episode is just making me wince.
If that doesn't stop within the next few episodes, I'm quitting this show.Atleast in SG1 we had Daniel. Now- that is the kind of brilliant mind I like.

Well i for one liked Rush up until the latest episode. I actually felt a sense of relief when he passed out! But i'll give him another chance. Afterall, he was suffering from caffine and nicotine withdrawl......
