To be honest with you I may not have the best look at this show. I live in the UK so, though I am a teenager, I have know idea what American schools are like, what view people have on sex or religion over there.
It seems to me though that the characters positions are exaggerated a lot. For instance, there is the very religious girl who will not have sex till she's married, and then there's the slut who will do it with anyone.
But this isn't a bad thing. I think the show is trying to relate to a lot of people's situations, and the emphasised roles helps them do this. This may only be for entertainment purposes, but it could also help people. Those watching the show may take advice from the way the characters handle the situation and use it to help them. For instance the way Amy handles the pregnancy, or Ben with his first girlfriend.
The comments people have made about how it is only set from one viewpoint are silly. The show follows over 6 different characters at a time, each with there own story, so it is definitely not taken from one viewpoint.
Taking a more personal stance, I really like the show! It's fun to watch and the characters are interesting and have interesting story lines. I really like the character of Amy, the way she is played and her person in general. Ben is also a nice person, though I think the way he handles his relationship is a little strange, though not necessarily unrealistic.
The other characters too are cool and I especially like the way the show has so many plots entwined together.
But basically it is a great TV show, and I'm glad I started watching it, and can't wait to watch more.
