Agent Char... or however it's spelt

So jus my own crazy thoughts here but Agent Char (introduced in Season 3 episode 4) is quite a lot like a maturer version of chuck. They both are analyst type Agents, both hate guns, they seem kind of similar and Char's name is even similar. Now I don't think the writers will do this but It kind of made me think of Char as a future Chuck and the bit at the end of Season 3 Episode 4 where Char is looking over an old engagement ring combined with his Anti-Love and Anti-Family speech means we know he's had a tragic love in the past.

Craziness Time: Time Travel... It just got me thinking that he could be Chuck from the future, I mean given all the similarities and the unexplained willingness to let Chuck handle things on his own (possibly to help him grow into a better Spy) all points to Time Travel in my head. Although I doubt the writers would take the story in that direction because Chuck has always seemed to lean more to the Spy Comedy rather then the Sci-Fi comedy it just made me think about it.

Anyone else notice anything along these lines or am I alone in my sci-fi thoughts... ? XD

Wow, that would be an uber weird twist... But I think I get you. Like he could be a Chuck from the future (not that far ahead though, as he doesn't look that old...?) And maybe Chuck and Sarah got married/engaged and then Sarah died/fell of the face of the earth, and he's all sad and stuff, and he's went back in time to try and stop it, or something?
Haha, I understand (possibly) what you're getting at, but I think time-travel is a bit hi-tech, even for the CIA.
I think he's just all broody and anti-love and anti-family is because obviously something has happened to him in the past which has scarred him deeply, and the reason he was all nostalgic when he was watching Chuck and his family (+Sarah and Casey, come on, Morgan is pretty much like a brother to him anyway :P) was because he was upset that he doesn't have that, or doesn't have the will/strength to have that anymore, because of his past.
(Possibly spoilers? I don't know, I always think rabid Chuck fans like myself keep track of these things, if not, don't read on!) I'm not sure if they're doing a love-triangle thing here? (Quick Edit: Actually I think it's Shaw/Sarah/Chuck/Hannah, if I remember correctly) In my Chuck withdrawl months, I vaguely remember reading something about that, maybe, or that might have been another show. It was all so hazy... But anyway, I'm not really into the jealousy and everyones falling for everyone thing again, I didn't like Bryce (Although Matthew Bomer looks smokin' in White Collar) but when I saw Shaw, I did go, wow he looks nice. And before he got into the base, I was thinking how cute it was that he didn't like guns, although he seemed extremely spy-like. I just know I'm going to be ripping my hair out in reletively large chunks if it's really... Gaah. I'm a big Sarah/Chuck fan, like ever since the first episode when they were on the beach, I've just known. So as you can imagine, all the way through season 1 and season 2 I was kicking the compter desk/stomping my feet on the floor, waiting for them to get together. And now it's like they're starting all over again, and it's got me ripping my hair out, etc, etc. It gets tiring, but as I'm a huge Chuck fan, I'll get through it, and I'll stick with it.
Wow, sorry for the essay. I just watched the 4th episode and it's 6.05am here and I'm buzzed on coffee. xD

Thats a pretty interesting theory...it would be an amazing story...but it seems unlikely to me, like you suggested, the show has always been more comedy spy than sci-fi spy and time travel seems so over the top in relation to chuck storylines so far...His name was Agent Shaw though...not char...

Highly unlikely because of the physical differences unless he changed his image aswell.I think he's going to become a mentor for chuck, helping him to control his emotionals and to use firearms.I think he's an awesome character though, Woo Agent Shaw!

one, thats a interesting and imaginative theory however chuck is going down the same road as another of josh schwartz shows called the Oc the option the writing staff have taken is more character driven. In schwartz other show The Oc something very similar happened between the two main love interests in the oc season 2 which i see has become the blueprint for chuck season 3 the lead character seth choose to leave his girlfriend and returned 3 months later only to discover she had a new boyfriend so seth spent the entire season going from a short term new girlfriend alex to trying to win back summer. In chuck the story has changed slightly but the premise is still there brandon routh a.k.a shaw is almost the same character as zack from the oc and serves the same purpose where as kristin kreuk aka hannah is almost the same character as alex. Now by same character obviously there are nuances to their personalities which are significantly different yet they still serve the same purpose in both shows.
