A Look at True Blood's Success

The hit HBO series True Blood was created and produced by Alan Ball. Alan E. Ball born May 13, 1957. He is known for writing the film American Beauty and creating and producing the HBO series Six Feet Under. Alans Tv show True Blood premiered on September 7th, 2008 and had 1.4 million viewers. The first season of True Blood had 12 episodes and by the twelth episode "You'll Be the Death of Me" the show has over 2.45 million fans. When the second season also consisting of 12 episodes aired on June 14th, 2009, True Blood's fan base had grown even more and had 3.7 million viewers. Finally when the second season finale of true blood "Beyond Here Lies Nothing" aired on Sept 13th, 2009 the show had reached an astonishing 5.1 million viewers, making True Blood one of the most successful shows to air on HBO.


Part of True Bloods success is undoubtedly attributed to the recent Vampire trend sweeping across the world. Since the show is based on the "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" (also known as "The Sookie Stackhouse Novels) by Charlaine Harris its arrival was near the beginning of the Vampire craze. Since 2008 there has been several vampire related tv series, movies, books, merchandise and apparel created. The series revolves around Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress living in the town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, two years after the invention of a synthetic blood called Tru Blood. This blood allowed vampires to allow their presence to be known to mankind. As they struggle for equal rights and assimilation the anti-vampire organizations begin to gain power. Sookie's world is turned upside down when she falls in love with a 173 yr old vampire Bill Compton. Of course there relationship faces many trials and tribulations and complicated intimacy issues.


True Blood season 3 was officially announced by HBO on July 30th, 2009 and will debut in June, 2010. Fans all over the world are waiting to Watch the Season 3 premier of True Blood. With the increase of access to television shows online, with out a doubt many of the fans will follow episodes of true blood online. As the anticipation grows, so does the hype of vampires and fantasy. True Blood season 3 episode 1 will surely be a major event.
