Prediction of How the Sam/Dean showdown plays out...

I don't claim to know how the rest of this season, or the show in general, will play out, but i have a theory for what would make an awesome show.

Seeing as it is obvious that Ruby is far more than she appears, it'd be nice to see her show her full potential. From what we know about her, she helps Sam and Dean because "she remembers what it's like to be Human", but I'm with Dean in the not trusting department, after all "she's a demon!". While Ruby may not end up being the top dog in the demon hierarchy, it's more than likely she is pretty sinister. And i know, she's helping out, blah blah blah, but what's her end game? What does she get out of this. Let's take a look at the things that don't quite make sense considering Ruby's "paygrade" as it were.

1. She knows how to fix the colt?

2. She has a demon killing knife?

3. She is allowed topside again after Lillith banishes her to the corners of Hell, and she supposedly "convinces Lillith" to let her have another chance.

For the not so strong demon she claims to be, Ruby has a ton of power, and it seems more and more likely she is near the top of the plan for the Demons to bring Sam to the "Dark side". Ruby is bad news, and time will show it.

Now on to the Sam/Dean showdown we all know is coming, once Sam is completely off the reservation that is. The thing is, even if Sam were pure evil, how are they going to get Dean to turn on Sam? No matter what, Dean will try to save him, because he's just that kind of brother. He never says never. The apocalypse brings the armies of heaven (good) against the armies of hell (bad), and it just seems likely that John Winchester will be fighting on that Good side. "He's made of the stuff of Heroes," after all.

Biblically speaking, Humans, after all is said and done, take a position higher up than angels in hierarchical positions, so its not to out there for the writers to bring John back with some epic powers during the final fight between Heaven and Hell, and this is how I see it playing out.

John comes back, and fights his lost and now evil son Sam, who is right where the demons (Azazel) wanted him the whole time, leading the evil demon army. With the powers he has, Sam ends up killing John in Battle, and it is this action that gives Dean the anger, strength and courage to do what must be done and stop Sam. Only something like Sam killing his father would prompt Dean to give up on saving Sam, and like Castiel said "The Righteous Man who begins it is the only one who can end it."

And that's how i see it playing out (as of now).

the John thing is an interesting concept, after all, he was one of the souls that crawled outta hell when yellow eyes opened the door. frankly, i like the idea of John turning instead of Sam (Sam too, of course, but i like the IDEA of Johns turning better). the whole Ruby thing is something thats been bugging me from her first appearance, im glad someone else thinks so too. oh and another thing, 'demon rank' was hinted at by her but never actually addressed; if demons used to be human, then they should be a rank below the demons that used to be angels- just saying.
as for your endgame, i like it, just one thing, 'anger' cant be the final trigger to victory, not from a plot standpoint, but from a moral one. i do see a last second 'Dean- i cant do it; Sam- i cant hold the evil back, kill me; Dean- *crying* aaaugh, ok' moment coming, but i really hope they dont, its just too cliche ...
another end is bringing yellow eyes back, and yea, i know, the colt got him, but you come across south park's 'killing sadam in hell' loop of "where was he gonna go, detroit?" (for those non SP fans, the concept is all you can do is send him back to hell, hes already dead, so wheres he gonna go). originally i thought the colt was like a super eraser (boom, no more existence), but if that was the case then Meg wouldnt have been able to return in 'the watchers' episode. if she can make it back, even in ghost form, then .... oh wait, was she ever actually shot by the colt? never mind then.
oh, and quick thing on the whole colt/knife thing. the colt was presented as "a gun that could kill anything" but that required the special bullets. the knife was presented as a demon killer, but useless on angels. that got me thinking, maybe she didnt 'fix' the colt, but 'downgraded' it to just a demon killer only with normal bullets. infact, i think it would be cool if they got it back, tried it on a non demon, and it didnt work (just for an 'oh shit' moment). just a passing thought. hey where is the colt anyway? last i remember it was in Lilith's hands, but hasnt shown up since.

Can't see them bringing John back at this stage. It is an interesting theroy, but doesn't seem likely to me. The whole father vs son thing just doesn't sit well with me in regards to a storyline at this late stage of the season. If you read the spoilers going around, there is another possibilty.

NGrady, Since the cold can kill anything, it shoudl kill lucifer. i think that where the story is gonna go. The father vs son thing is a little too much.

I think the only way to end the show will be to bring John (and Mary) back -- all of the Winchesters, but I don't see a realistic way to do so. Not to mention, there's supposedly going to be one more season -- and I'm not sure how they can prolong this arc for.
There has to be another twist coming. Parts of this season have sort of limped along, though "Monster" was an excellent ep.
