Yup, it has been posted and discussed before.
In a recent interview David mentioned that there are four specials planned at the moment which will be aired in 2009.
Read the interview:
Watch the same interview:

And then yes, the series will return in full form after that - David has not, as of yet, been officially asked to return to the role.
Hope that helps.

David Tennant is officially contracted until 2010, Russell Davies said that in a TV magazine last week. He is "informally" committed to series 5.
We're definitely going to see him in these 4 planned episodes to fill the coming year whilst he's playing Hamlet in Shakespeare (that's why they are doing episodes rather than a full series) but after that, nothing's certain for Tennant.
The episode where he regenerates is going to be so sad!

well did anyone watch tonight's episode?
~~~~~~~~~~SPOILER!!!!!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!~~~~~~~~~~
I mean will they break the rules on regeneration??
And someone said that the doctor would be a girl for a show or two...something about a cold?Also, the doctor only has 13 lives...and the tenth just died.
Actually, BadWolf, if you watch the Doctor Who movie from 1996, the Doctor states that a timelord can regenerate 13 times, not that he has thirteen lives. If you count off from the first Doctor, that means that Tennant is that he is the 10th Doctor, but it is only his 9th regeneration. That means he has 4 more lives, equaling 14 Doctors. What made me think of this was that a few weeks a go I watched the old episode titled "The Five Doctors". In one scene, the first Doctor, William Hartnell, asks the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, what regeneration he is and Davison replies, "fourth".
Since it looks like, The Doctor will regenerate but look the same, the will still mean that there will only be three people left that can play the Doctor.
and really, who is to say that they won't break the rules and allow the doctor more regenerations don the line - so many characters are brought back from the dead - and hey, stranger things have happened - I'm sure giving the Doctor a few more lives wouldn't be a hard twist to write in.
What do you think about the cliffhanger? Do you think he'll regenerate as another actor or stick around as David Tennant?
Lots of buzz about that too. Also, the Doctor's Daughter episode.
They were waiting for her to regenerate and the Doctor says "I guess she's not enough like me..."
when he leaves she regenerates but in the same form.
Do you think this is a hint for David Tennant? Especially when he is supposedly tied to the fifth season when it comes out? Maybe he will regenerate in the same form. But then I will be conflicted. Yay for David. Boo for changes to initial DW mythology!
I hadn't heard of a fifth series for 2009. I had heard all they were going to do in 2009 were the 5 specials, and then return in 2010 with a new series. but hey what do i know anyways :p
lol
i think he is going to stay in the same body, or create another body which dies instead of him because his right hand is glowing where he was cut for the doctors daughter to be created maybe there could be something to do with that.
total guess but u never know...
I really really hope that he don't regenerate into a woman, that would just make the finale stupid.
And that whole thing were a Time Lord only could regenerate 13 times, wasn't that more of a rule? Remember The Master from the movie in 1996? He had used up hes 13 regenerations bur broke the rules and did it anyway. And now when the doctor is the last Time Lord he won't be put i jail for it.
Jolly-ninja, I don't think that hes taughter is relevant in the regeneration process, I think that when we saw his hand glow was more for show so the audience could see that it started to happen. But i would love to see her come back in the final episode.
Okay, wacky left of field thought, now don't jump down my throat, I live in Australia and I have had to watch on the internet so I may have missed a bit (we only JUST got the Voyage of the Damned episode) BUT your all talking about the rule of 13 regenerations and the Doctors daughter. What if, because Jenny strictly specking is a replica of the Doctor, what if she used one of his regenerations? OR because there are now two time lords (theoretically speaking) from the same entity, for want of a better word, this is how they can go about gettting past the 13 regeneration rule, because it could have been broked from the CREATION of Jenny... or it could mean that the doctor can only regenerate 2-3 more times (following on from TheFaceOfBoe's comment)
Just a thought that I would throw out there and remember, I've had to watch pixilated, low grade copies of the episodes so I haven't seen EVERYthing that these episodes have to offer.
@jess_of_serenity: I doubt that hes daughter could use one of hes regenerations. And even if she could I think the doctor would notice. And she's not just a replica of the doctor, they took DNA from him and a female and created Jenny so she is more hes daughter than a replica.wich comment from The Face of Boe are you talking about?
well if you have seen the library episode the professor knew the doctor (as that generation) only looking older so perhaps he gives of a few years to regenerate instead would be a good twist and would het to keep Tennant on for at least one more season!
