Rose Tyler is coming back!

The BBC have today confirmed that Billie will be returning to Doctor Who.

She will star in three episodes of the sci-fi drama, reprising her role as the Doctor's companion, Rose Tyler.

Rose's return will mean the Doctor has three assistants in next year's series - Donna, played by Catherine Tate, and Freema Agyeman as Martha.

The new series begins in March and will run for 13 episodes. There will be three special editions in 2009 before the show takes a break until 2010.

A separate show based on Rose had been planned by writer and series producer Russell T Davies, but was scrapped when Davies decided the programme was "a spin-off too far".

Sweet! I actually dislike Donna not really, but I loved Rose and I'm glad she will be back soon!

Not personally acquainted with a TimeLord, but that many women messing with any male's mind is going to cause problems.

This 'news' was reported months before the series 4 premier. For anyone out of the loop, (SPOILER) at the end of this season, the show will play host to many familiar faces working together to get the Doctor out of a bind. The three assistants that were mentioned are Rose, Martha and Donna. There are reports that Sarah-Jane, Jack, and even Rose's family will be returning. Should be an interesting few episodes!! :D

I'm so excited about this. I don't like Donna nearly as much as Rose, and Martha too - I guess. And Jack coming back will also be exciting

Dr Who just isn't the same without Rose in my opinion :) I've heard that there will be a few episodes with just the 3 ladies and no doctor. But that may just be a rumour.

its obvious y shes cumin bak...in old days, every anniversary, they had all the doctors/some of them like the episodes The Three Doctors and The Five Doctors. It's the fiftieth anniversary this year so they will bring Rose back for an episode

Oh, that's _fantastic!_
And yeah, it's not all that unusual for The Doctor to have multiple Companions. In fact, it's something of a departure for him to only have one regular Companion at a time. In the original show, it was not uncommon for him to have three or four at any given time.

Hey, she was signed up for 3 episodes, and she was in the "Partners in Crime" and one of the new ones with the cars, on the screen for a moment. But each time she keeps disappearing. So My guess is that she's going to come back in the season finale kinda like the bad wolf thing, where she's always there, but never really there. haha so Rose isn't really back... she's just going to make a quick appearance

from what my friend, who got me into dr who, she said that it was a word. shadow proclaimation seems the most likely one cos disappearance of bees has been just like news being mentioned. it could have something to do with the final thing.

Maybe it's just the Doctor/Rose fangirl in me, but I'm worried that having 2 other Companions around will diminish what I hope will be a terribly dramatic moment of reunion between the Doctor and Rose. I have no idea when she's going to show up, and I haven't been watching recent episodes. I'm sure it'll be awesome, though. <3

I like Donna, but I admit that I'm a huge Rose fan.
Message for the Doctor: Rip open the universe and go get Rose!

Rose is signed up for thirteen more episodes with Doctor Who, and boy, her and Martha are going to rip each other to pieces! In the old Dr. Who episodes, the Doctor would have up to three companions at a time. I haven't actually seen the oldies, but it's going to be fun watching the multiple companions!

I hope they keep Rose for longer than three episodes. I have not seen past season two, but I am hesitant to watch any more of the seasons because their relationship was what kept things interesting and waiting for the declaration was what kept me watching. I do not think anyone could replace Rose. So what the hell are they doing.

Well my theory is, that because rose will be in the final episode (rumours are that the parallel world collapses sending rose, jackie and mickey, back to their earth) The series will then have a long break between filming, in which both david and billie can pursue other roles (the reason why billie left in the first place)She can do another series of secret diary of a call girl (which I also love) and therefore give her the perfect opportunity to return after fulfilling this. Can't wait to see the doctor's reaction!!!!

Rose isn't in the final episode, she's part of the mid-season boost! And plus, Martha doesnt hang around for long, she misses her family too much and returns home to work for UNIT.

The connection in this season is losing things - the volcanic people "lost" their home world without a trace - the Sontaran's "lost" their breeding planet - the bees are just "gone", and I think in the first episode it was mentioned that those adipose things were breeding on Earth because their creater's also "lost" one of their worlds.
