True Blood?

Absolutely Emo, Not Original, and Just Too Confusing Tv Show.

Ok, so i know we've had a century of cinema and ideias on tv and on the big screen but cmon creating a show where there's a woman who can read minds (Idea from X-Men, Heroes, ...) and meets a vampire (Tons and Tons of vampire stuff out there) and the world is filled with vampires??? please give me a break... and i thought these kinda ideas only showed up in family guy and american dad for joking with it, please...

HBO PLEASE, CANCEL THIS SHOW OR JUST GET OUT OF TV, DO THE RIGHT THING ;)

"there's a woman who can read minds (Idea from X-Men, Heroes, ...) "
Lolwat? I'm pretty sure that the idea of Psychics goes back quite a while farther back. For example, tribal Shamen in near-prehistoric days?
Anyhow, most ideas have been done before, in all sorts of ways. Nowadays it's not *what* you do, it's *how* you do it. This show has a different feel to it than, say, Moonlight, Blood Ties or Buffy/Angel, as well as a different style. It's not for everyone, and I'm certainly not fangirling over it, but I think it does have something going for it in that it managed a slightly different spin on the whole Vampire mythos. (Even if that's because it's based on books).

i agree that it's a boring show, but remember it's not a rip off of the series you mentioned because it's based on the novels of sookie starkhouse (or whatever her name is), personally i think you don't like the show because you don't like vampires and stuff like that (at least that's what your arguments show), so yeah even though i don't like the series i also don't agree with you, and simply a person not enjoying vampires is not a reason for canceling a show

~sigh~ I would like to point out that the books came before heroes and X-men is a whole different genre, if I didn't just get done pledging not to say anything about what is supposed to happen I'd tell you why she can read minds, but I promise she isn't a mutated human.
Yes, the show kind of does suck, most shows based on books do, but not for the reasons you throw out. What do you think is original then? EVERYthing in this world stems from something else. name one show or book and I can name it's twin or something similar. As for the vampire theme... It won't just have vampires in it (I can say that now because of Sam, right?), it's a fantasy book. Also there has never to my knowledge been a vampire T.V. show, book or otherwise with an undercurrent racism theme. Which I think makes it unique.
I'm not surprised you find it confusing again because they're translating stuff that can't be translated then throwing a whole bunch of extra crap in to make it longer (and to add little sex in every episode). They made a relatively short mystery novel into a long drawn out TV show, with so much relationship drama packed in it almost gives me a headache. book=good tv show=*shrug*

I fanatically love the show and realize also that they tackle too many social issues, racism, chritianity and alienation. the whole thing is heavy, for instance, the black cook is both gay and kicking asses, I mean the portrait of each character is unique. the book is sweet but the TV adaptation is better, because the books are like diaries, it's Sookie's mind and feelings that we read turning the reader into the psychic that she is. I saw on many youtube videos that there was different directors, and it is obvious that some episodes just dont look like having the same perspective. Anyway Charlaine Harris are cloe in major parts to Barbara Cartland, I mean Sookie looks like being a really naughty girl, let's says that it's Bill's Blood which untight her libido...All in all, anyway, it's an adult show and I like it, some scenes are really agressive, humans are attracted by vampires sex abilities (they go to their bars, and even chose to be bitten in order to attract lovers!!!!), human chase vampires for their blood dose, burn them...but other species appear too! I've been waiting for a vampire show like forever, and knowing that a season 2 is on the way also weigh on my interest! True Blood rocks and so is HBO!

well, first of all i like the show, vampires stuff, fantasy book, but PLEASE, comparing charlaine harris to barbara cartland??? have you ever read one of their books?? sookie is not a naughty girl, she is innocent and then she isn't, but stays very straight in her "my grandma always told me" sort of way.Barbara cartland is dull, predictible, and dull. charlaine harris obviously isn't. And if you have to compare her to anything, you should compare her to Laurell K. Hamilton, who's books are much more similar to harris's. and i think the argument "it has been done before" isn't really original. Come on, i know all sorts of shows are new (thinking about 24) but still, i think true blood is seriously original and before criticizing the show read the books, then you'll get it. or not. but i know you can all do better than that.

First of all, I am a convert. After watching the first epi, I brought all the 8 bks and read it within a week. And now i am suffering from withdrawal symptons while waiting for the 9th. Season 1 or Bk 1 is just an introduction. So it will not surprise me if the reviews are mixed. Be patient and wait for Season 2 onwards. There were surprises and twist in every turn. I am very impressed and sucked into this series. I believe all of you unbelievable will love it. So HBO pls continue all the way to season whatever.Alan Ball did a gd job for a bk adaptation. U cannot hv it exactly the same as the bk. Think Harry potter. Bk is much better because the movie basically just adapt almost identically to the bk which does not always work on screen. I do not want to watch Sookie's thots all the time although i love reading it because she is so funny but it cannot be translated to screen. Trust me, the series only gets better as Sookie progressed deeper to a world she barely entered in Series 1. It will be a lot scarier, awesome, and amazing. I cannot wait. And sure, hvg sex on screen helps. Pls continue with that HBO.

The thing here is not the show in itself but it's much more like the Emo Tv shows that Mr. Alan Ball keeps putting up, I've followed a bit of his work and it's boring, Emo, and only points out the weird points of society.
so the initial part is amazing, so it was in six feet under, great creativity but seriously, he should apply his creativity to a better show.
and trust me about canceling shows? they do it all the time for nothing, just the other day a new tv show was coming to CBS until the director argued with a CBS producer.

Okay if you don't like it don't watch it.
If you don't want to like it don't watch it.
if you watch it and don't like it. Don't watch it again, it's not likely to get any better or change into a genre that you do like.
If you watch it and don't like it,why not move on live's short don't fill it with dissapointment.
and finally if you haven't got anything good to say don't say anything at all unless it is constructive.
love and luck to all.billy

billygetsthegoat we are having a conversation here, if you haven't anything constructive to say don't say anything at all, it's not bad to discuss about liking or (in this case) NOT liking a show, *in a civilized manner of course*
