Changes from the book, good or bad?

Notice when Denna captured Richard in the book that she always had him keep his sword on to show how week he is.

Also that breath of life or whatever Denna did to bring Richard back to life kind of violates that premise that one isn't suppose to come back, it kind of to me violates a rule, from the dead world, I won't spoil the rest if someone is reading the books right now.

I haven't read the first book in about 5 years, so I can be wrong.

I know the master, Goodkind blessed this show, so it can't be that bad.

It kind of leaves me thinking what will happen next because it has some things quite different from the book.

Also the actors, I don't think you can find anybody to portray the people in the book better.

I also find that the actors are perfect for their roles that they really capture Goodkind's depiction of them. Richard's dashing and strong, Kahlan's fierce and beautiful while Zedd if goofy and wise. I find that though they've mastered the main characters and their roles, all the secondary characters such as Darken Rahl, Shota, even Denna left something to be desired...I actually started reading the books because of the television show - and hands down, the books are exponentially better. With all the changes they've made to the show's plot lines, I am curious of what will happen next.I'll still keep watching and I am most definitely going to keep on reading - I'm on book five and I'm loving every page!

i agree, the characters on the show are almost perfect depictions of the characters from the book. I don't really mind the plot changes as much as most fans because the show isn't supposed to mimic the book word-for-word but be a loose representation. Overall, both the books and the show are great if you take them for what they are; separate stories based around the same general idea.

I really enjoy this show and I do not really care about the changes because you would know what happens next and I love the actors who they picked to play the characters from the book they are going all out to make this show great even though it is a low budget show and I really like how they are trying to bring back the classic action and adventure a fantasy show should have and I hope it inspires other people to make shows like this beacuse I am a big fan of Fantasy and Sci-fi shows and it bring a essence of youth to this world and it shows anything can happen. This show is my number one show it really beats watching smallville and chuck and the rest of the shows I watch.

I would have really liked the TV show to be closer to the book. For example I didn't like how before Richard left he thought Zed was just some crazy old guy, whereas in the book they where good friends and you could really see that Zedd had helped shape Richard's inquisitive mind. Also some of the other changes like darken rahl on the dragon should have been the one who killed Richard's adoptive father and it should show that the sword fuels rage, but that it enacts a terrible price on the wielder when they take a life.Overall though I think the show is well done and the actors are very solid in their roles.

i totally agree with bird becuase if they keep changing things they will end up with some problemes in the future and they will have to change stuff more and more untill there is almost nothing of the origonal idea left. forinstance in the book richard memorized "the book of counted shadows" in the futur he is supposed to know what the book contains of information in order to defeat darken rahl.(if the name of the book isn't right thats because i read the translated version in dutch and i don't really remenber some of the early details in the serie of books)

i agree with Bird. i believe they have changes to many things from the book that were like key plot lines that led to later developments. we aren't going to meet scarlet! maybe.... ='( Also i don't belive that they have portrayed the anger that the sword fuels or the pain it extols of richard.sidenote: i completely disagree with everyone who says the actors are wonderful....(not to be overly critical but....the acting makes me cringe....too campy)<-- i think that might be the scripts fault though

personally i cannot stand all the changes that were made from the book to the series. it totally changes the storyline! it fast fowards too much, completely reverses other things and in general is very nearly a different story! why, oh why, cant series stay true? the book was exceptional! ive stayed up way too late on some nights because i couldnt put the book down. but the series? i couldnt even get halfway through the first episode. im dissapointed. deepy.
