2010 TV Wish List: Kendra's Top 10 Wishes for the New Year - Featured

Here at SideReel we've reviewed 2009 TV, so now it's time to look ahead at TV in the new year! Here are my top 10 wishes for what I believe will make TV in 2010 great.

Heroes improves the carnival storyline

While it seems like an interesting idea for heroes to be free and open about their powers by showing them off in a carnival, Heroes tried introducing new heroes in Season 2 and it failed, and it doesn't seem like that's turning out any differently for Season 4. Here's hoping that this carnival storyline will get to the point sooner rather than later in 2010 so we can see what it has to offer beyond a distraction from the show having no direction with its original characters.

Glee has more to give

Being a true blue gleek, I'm not saying I don't have faith in Glee continuing to be fantastic, but after all the main storylines coming to a head and/or conclusion in the fall finale, my Glee hope for 2010 is that they didn't burn themselves out trying to impress and keep Glee on the air this fall.

Grey's Anatomy improves or gets canceled

While Grey's has been losing its way and fans for a few years, I'd say between the Denny ghost storyline, George dying, Izzie living then disappearing, and trying to work in the recession, 2009 was a bad year for Grey's. It's hard to keep a show going six seasons in, and since Grey's is not proving to have a lot more to offer, I'd really like 2010 to be the year where Grey's gets its act together or decides to call it quits with the chance for a proper conclusion. Isn't it time to just know MerDer lives happily ever after already without us having to watch them from week to week?

Huddy actually happens on House

We've been playing the will-they-or-won't-they game with House and Cuddy for 5 1/2 seasons now. This past year brought the closest call yet on them getting together, then when it didn't happen, it almost seemed like it was going to be the final word that it would never happen for them... and then that didn't happen. After getting so close this season, I think 2010 needs to finally be the year where they just decide already if they're going to get together or not. I think the show can go on either way, and it's just getting exhausting to continue to play the waiting game.

Gossip Girl figures out what to do with Serena & Nate's lives

Gossip Girl has been a bit of a mess this season with all of the gang except Jenny graduating high school, but I think the worst part of "GG goes to college" has been not everyone just going to college. Serena needed to stay close instead of go to Brown, but that decision should have led to going to the same college as the rest of the group instead of trying to have a job. Along with that, Nate needs to stop with all the external family drama that makes his storylines too separate from the rest of the group as well. My big wish for 2010 that I think would greatly improve GG overall is to figure out what Serena and Nate are doing already, and hopefully that will lead to focusing on college, new friends, and new drama!

The Office baby adds to the show

As an enormous Jim and Pam fan, their wedding was definitely a big TV highlight for me in 2009, but the immediate addition of a JAM baby makes me a little nervous. Since it threw off the dynamic of the show and cast when Pam was off in NY at art school, I worry that a new baby could take Pam out of the mix for a while, and mess with the balance and humor of the show instead of adding to it. So, here's hoping The Office gang has a good plan for baby JAM and how baby storylines can add to the show instead of messing with what we love!

True Blood has a better villain storyline for Season 3

Season 2 of True Blood was amazing, but I while MaryAnn was an interesting villain, her entire story was not great. I much preferred Season 1's murder mystery plot to the devil woman + town madness theme of Season 2, so my wish for the new True Blood season of 2010 is that there will be a much more solid season villain theme to go along with the surrounding awesomeness!

Dollhouse has a proper series conclusion

It is sad to see Dollhouse go so soon especially after such a good fan fight for it last year, so the only acceptable way to see this one go out is with a bang. Joss Whedon and his shows have become famous as one season hit wonders, so now that Dollhouse not only got a second season, but enough of a warning of its cancellation to write a good conclusion, my hope is that all those working on the show really do it justice for the fans.

Annie and Jasper go to jail on 90210

This is probably my most outrageous TV wish for 2010, but it's what I really want, so I'm sayin' it! Jasper going to jail is probably a little more reasonable considering he's a drug dealer with no complicated details around that illegal fact, but since he's so young, he may get off easy even if he does get in legal trouble. But he's just so annoying, I hope this character can be taught a serious lesson... which leads me to our ex-90210 leading lady, the insanely annoying Annie! Her crime is a little more tricky being an accident and her being a scared, confused teen, but drinking and driving, and a hit-and-run, and a witness? That sounds like a good possibility for her to get in some serious trouble if it goes to the police, and in my dream of dreams, I'd love to see good girl-turned-really-dumb-and-annoying-pretend bad girl go away for a while - however that may be done.

Cougar Town gets canceled

While this isn't the worst new comedy, it's not the best. My 2009 wish was that this would be Courteney Cox Arquette's fun and fantastic return to comedy, but instead it's just a cute, tolerable 30 minutes of predictable characters saying predictable things. So my hope for 2010 is that this one just ends quietly instead of going on to a second season which will predictably slide downhill into a much more embarrassing cancellation.

There are definitely shows that deserve to be canceled more than Cougar Town. And adding to the list, that show Human Target that FOX is promoting had better be good, it does not look good at all, almost cartoonish, but if this is what they canceled Dollhouse,it better be worth something, but as of right now I don't even plan on watching it, so my wish for 2010 is that networks know how to identify, promote, and hold on to their good shows. With dollhouse ending, Pushing Daisies getting canceled, Chuck in the perpetual cancelation zone the last two years, and ABC talking about canceling Better off Ted, while they continue to crank out the reality shows and keep really poor shows around like Grey's Anatomy and 90210, I dont trust their decision making, hope that changes in 2010.

i disagree with your cougar town wish. i hope it continues on. maybe to you it may not be interesting and is predictable, but i say not.
also, for GG, if everyone had gone to college, i think it would have been a little dull. i liked the fact that serena had to stay away for a year to "find who she is".. it seems more realistic.
for 90210, i must say that i agree that annie is way too annoying nowadays. but i think once SHE gets a lesson, it'll be fine. speaking of fine, i think jasper is. he sells drugs just like any other person who needs money. if he goes to jail, then annie should burn in hell.
the only thing i actually agree with you on is your views on house and glee. (:

I definitely agree with you on Nate and Serena needing to get a life... it's so sad seeing 2 great characters going to waste... especially with Nate being the cute guy, you just want to see him more. And Serena, isn't she suppose to be the Star or Lead of this drama??? I've been wondering about this since season one (where Blair was more of the Lead) and since her break up with Dan, she's just all over the place. Even my lovely Chuck is loosing his cool/charisma.. I mean he's more mature now, but he's not so interesting anymore... even Jenny has a better storyline although they are just randoms. Blair isn't mean anymore (boring). And that 3-some with Dan, Vanessa and Hillary (don't remember her series name), was just horrible and totally uncalled for..
Oh... and on a note.. I really love this Rufus and Lily thing, but seriously, do we really need to be pulled into their drama? the show is not about them.
So yeah.. I really love this show, I just hope they take this "needed" break and charm me again this March!

I think i am the only one who really liked the entire maryann plot.It was a multi layered thrill ride that grabbed me and never let go so i have trouble comprehending the hate on for maryann Forrester played wonderfully by michelle Forbes. The best part is the writers left a lot of questions unanswered which give a level of intrigue and interpretation to the ending of season 2.(The last half of the finale was a stinker though)

Noway should Cougar town be canceled - it's a funny, relaxing 30 min of entertainment. There are so many other worse tv shows out there. Keep Cougar town for awhile longer!

I agree with penguinchronicles,I very much enjoyed the whole Maryann tries to take over the town in order to summon her God Plot.I thought Michelle Forbes was fantastic as Maryann. Also the show was so visually and emotionally great, I can't wait for Season 3.If they follow the 3rd Book in the Sookie Stackhouse series a lot closer to home than I'm sure next season's villian plot will be much more entertaining.

I agree with KimberlyP that if everyone in GG went to college it would've been boring.i can't wait to see if dan and vanessa get togetheri really hope serena and nate become a couple as they look great together. i dont think that this season was boring at all but maybe because the last 3 or 4 episodes were really exciting. i liked the drama that happened between serena and trip but it was like a completely seperate story from the college. gossip girl should be incorporated with the storyline as that is what the show is supposed to be about and i hope she (or he) comes back to spread the drama.

I don't know why do people want cuddy and house be together. The same with bones and booth on "bones". I like the things the way they are, just please a little less drama. The big cameron's speach on house was a buzzkill (is that how you spell it ;>). Of course for me. Some people would like that.
I have only one 2010 wish. Don't cancel "Eastwick" give the show a chance! And of course in the end my Cato's speach: Cancel Heroes! Show is beyond help at this point. The least they can to is to save last scraps of dignity and end it nicely.

1. Booth and Brennan stop their dancing around with another will they/won't they storyline. It's time for them to just get it on. They're meaningful gazes are just getting longer and more lust-filled with every episode. It's time.
2. Chuck and Sarah get a chance now that he's a real spy.
3. Glee keeps it going strong, as I found the finale didn't answer all my questions. What is Quinn doing about the baby now that Terri probably won't take it? Where is Quinn going to live? Will Rachel and Finn get together? Will Emma and Will stay together? What will Terri's next evil plot be? I think there's still a lot, plus I can't wait to see Jonathan Groff star as Rachel Berry's new love interest.

In regards to True Blood, I just want to say upfront that I loved the charecter and I loved Michelle Forbes as Maryann. However, after such a great episode (Episode 9) that plot just got a bit tired and then I started to perfer the book version of what was happening in Bon Temps. I wish they could have incorporated that some more because the Maryann plot went just a bit stale.
I will say I'm on the edge about season 3. For some reason all the spoilers I've been reading have left me in a state of dread. I think that's possibly because I am such a fan of the books and it looks as if True Blood is departing even more from the books. On the other hand, I am so in love with the show and excited about what IS going to happen and definately looking forward to seeing some weres!

kimberlyp...are you kidding? jasper kicked navid down the stairs, sold drugs to a KNOWN vulnerable drug addict, and tracked annie down for the sole reason of making her pay for hitting his homeless uncle. i'm not defending what annie did by any means, but i think jasper's actions went far beyond "just selling drugs to make a living"
anyway...yeah gossip girl's plot needs to get better and fast! i've missed the last 2 episodes, and i don't even care. this used to be the show i was home no matter what to see, i have both seasons on dvd and watch them frequently, i have even had premiere parties for it in the past. i'm disappointed that it's no longer something i feel empty about if i miss it. i think the plot would definitely improve if both serena and nate stopped getting love interests from outside the inner circle. i'd prefer to have them single rather than bringing in useless characters for the only purpose of slightly enhancing the story line for an episode or two. i'd really like to see the relationship between jenny and nate explored more, and i hope that's where it's going in the new year. i'd also love to see serena and dan back together, but i'm not holding my breath on that one.
i hope ashlee simpson gets kicked off melrose place, and that the show itself doesn't get cancelled.
i can't WAIT to see what happens with emma and will on glee...she's such an odd character. she's likeable and annoying all at the same time.
and i literally am holding my breath til the season premiere of dexter. i know this season is going to be nuts, i just hope it's in a good way.
