House 'Lucky Thirteen': Secrets, Lies, and Lesbian Jokes

This week's House continued to delve into the personal lives of the new team as we got a look into Thirteen's destructive "I'm-going-to-die-anyway" behavior, including a a one-night stand with a woman apparently using Thirteen to get to House who she'd been trying to get to take her case for years. Tricky!

Even though Thirteen's personal storyline of dealing with Huntington's and her looming fate is pretty interesting, the best part of focusing on her life is the ridiculously inappropriate and hilarious things it makes House say. For instance, when Thirteen mentioned what the woman's previous doctor said about the case and House's response was, "Is that doctor in this room? (No.) Then I don't care what he thinks. Unless he is a she and she was in the room with the two of you last night - then I'm very interested."

Oh, House, you're so incredibly offensive. Yet as long as his team knows how to take it in stride and he hardly ever actually hurts someone's feelings, it's all fun and games.

It seems as if this case was going to change Thirteen's way of life to taking better care of herself rather than partying all night, taking drugs, and hooking up with random women, but as soon as the case was solved, she said she still felt empty as opposed to the connection she was starting to feel with the woman, and we saw her already hooking up with another stranger.

So does Thirteen need a connection with someone else with a fatal disease who will understand how she feels? It seemed as if when this was the case for the woman, Thirteen was feeling something that she needed, but when the case was solved and the woman wasn't in the same condition as Thirteen, Thirteen lost the connection entirely.

Perhaps she needs a good support group and this emptiness she's feeling will start to fill? Who knows. It seems like she definitely has a lot more to work through that we probably won't see much development on for a little while.

As for development we will see soon, we found out that Wilson's secret was not that he was dating a prostitute, but that he was helping Cuddy get approved for adopting a baby!

We've touched on the issue of Cuddy wanting a baby before, but now it looks like she's decided to make it happen, and House is not thrilled about it.

As noted in our House featured discussion this week, is this development just meant to bring us the next case of the mother of the baby Cuddy's meant to adopt, or is the point more to get House to finally move forward with his feelings for Cuddy?

It seems as if this could go either way at this point, but I would like to see more development for House and Cuddy after so many seasons of their flirtation. It doesn't seem like they could really be happy together, or that House could ever be happy with anyone including himself, but should the 'Huddy' issue be explored?

Did anyone else think that last moment - with House saying "If you're happy, I'm...", and putting on his shades - was a slight Horatio Cane reference?
Anyway, another amazing episode, I can't wait to see more about Kutner and his supposed masochistic tendencies.

Great episode, again. I think from all shows at the moment, this one delivers every single week, some ups and downs of course, but always somehow steady good episodes.
Loved the moment with Chase and Foreman in the lab talking about Foreman beeing boring.. I really miss Chase beeing direct and honest.
What I dont get is, why is House not happy for Cuddy at the end ? He knows how much she wanted to have a baby. And as he obviously feels something for here, even he is not admitting it YET, he should be happy for her.
Is he jealous that he now might not get a chance with Cuddy, as she will give all her attention to the baby ?
Any ideas ?

I think the reason why House is not happy for Cuddy is that he is simply not able to. He is a person condemned to be miserable!
Usually, one would complete the sentence "if you're happy, I'm...""happy too" or something like that. He said that same sentence a little bit earlier also to Wilson and could not finish it either.House can't, because he realizes his emptiness, his disability to feel happy for himself or anybody else.
Now that Wilson was able to move on and Cuddy able to adopt a child, neither of them feel miserable (like House) anymore. This makes House feel alone, just like thirteen feels alone, after she finds out that her patient and girlfriend doesn't suffer from an uncurable illness like her.
Anyway, that's what I thought, when I saw his reaction and facial expression at the end.Great episode btw!

anyone notice their bringing death closer and closer to the team? first Cammron's husband was dead (although it wasn't sudden, still emotionally traumatizing) then Amber, Wilson's girl, died (this time unexpectedly) and now 13, a member of the team, is going to die (and from the looks of it sooner then expected). i mean, where are they going to go next? if house himself hadn't already been shot, i'd say they were going to almost kill him. i donno, maybe Cuddys next, after all she is getting a kid. isn't this getting a little out of hand?

I wonder if they feel like they can bring death in so much because these people are doctors who are drawn to people with issues and all definitely have issues of their own... or maybe those like 13 became doctors because of their health problems or that of someone close to them. Something I don't think they've really put any focus on, but could be the case for some.

Yea i noticed that too but i dont think that they will kill House^^ I mean he just signed for some more years and they wont drop this treasure so fast. Cuddy and House: Hmm. I think he CAN be happy for someone. Its more likely that he loves/likes Cuddy but he also knows: A baby is more important for her then anything else and this makes him so sad :/
Nevertheless, great episode !
