Heroes 'Into Asylum': Who Are You Rooting For? - Featured

This season of Heroes has left me a little torn about what characters' sides I'm on - and that just got even more confusing with this week's 'Into Asylum'!

Sylar became a tricky one early on since he's such a fascinating and addicting villain, but this season we've seen so much more of Sylar as he tries to figure out his family, remembers more of his childhood, and just plain becomes more awesome, human, super-human, and conflicted all at once! So now with this week's episode, Sylar has teamed up with bad guy, Danko, AND he's pulled off a fake death for the likes of the new company and especially Noah. Now that's just cool.

All this really makes me, along with plenty of fans I'm sure, really want Sylar to stick around, though we still know he's the biggest baddie, so if he'd really die, all our good heroes like Hiro would be safe and happy!

Along with Sylar's changes this week, we also saw a new side of Angela Petrelli as she and Peter spent some time in the church where Angela and Arther got married, Peter had his first communion, etc. Angela explained to Peter how crazy everyone had thought she was when she started having dreams about all the horrible things that were going to happen, leading her to do awful things to those she loved for the sake of saving the world. So now has the evil and heartless Angela Petrelli become a more likable character like Sylar?

With these changes and plenty others as Nathan, Claire, Peter and more of our heroes show their good and bad sides, who do you find yourself rooting for these days on Heroes? Are you rooting for the bad guys? The good guys? Certain characters in particular, or are you just rooting for anything that brings you an awesome plot from week to week?

First of all if you think Hiro and Ando are the two best characters you must be crazy. Name one good thing that they have done. Everything they get into ends up going wrong and Hiro "had" the best power ever but is too much of a pansy to do anything with it. This past weeks episode was one of my favorite of the season. Thats most in part by the absence of Hiro.

TEAM SYLAR!!! I dont care if the whole world EXPLODES! If Sylar's standing in space with that hot-arse evil smirk of his, I'm a happy woman. ^^

I've gotta say this episode was absolutely brilliant. No more whining Claire, we actually saw some real emotion from her, and after hating boring Nathan all series, I'm actually hoping, after his 'telling off' from her, he actually does some good.
Angela has been the most changed character in the series; never sure which side she is on, what's going on in the ol' head of hers, but now she's a woman with a plan. Still wish they'd involve Peter a bit more; after being the central character for 3 series, it seems a bit odd to make him a 'bit-part' player.
Sylar and Danko were bound to team up at one point, and the chemistry works fantastically. Best baddie in tv for decades.
ShatteredGrace, if this show gets cancelled, I'll personally come over to the US and complain! All shows go through a bit of a lull, peaks and troughs etc etc, I say, well done Heroes writers and fans for sticking through it and fully reaping the rewards of an excellent series!

Sylar is and has always been my favourite. He is what made Season 1 so memorable and if he dies, so will the show.

Sylar has always been the best character. You get a full spectrum when watching Sylar, and he is also the catalyst to almost all the action that goes on in the show, up until Nathan's little roundup. Still, he plays the most important role and when all is said and done he will be the one who decides who wins. Whichever side he is on is the side of victory, which basically means at the moment, that he will be the only one standing. I've always been on Sylar's side, he's just so interesting, and each season i find myself rooting more and more for him

peter and sylar have been carrying the show from day 1. there are some other good characters but lets face it, without those 2 the show just wouldnt be worth watching. as for which one am i rooting for then i would have 2 say peter. everyone is saying peters new ability is no good as he can only take 1 power at a time and he needs 2 touch someone else with a power to get it, but what would happen if peter touches sylar who has umpteen abilities ? would peter then get everyone of sylars abilities ?

Sylar is finally back. After 'Villains' all but destroyed Sylar as a character, turning his complex ambition into nothing more than an ability induced impulse and having him switch sides every second episode, I had all but lost interest in the character. Luckily, volume 4 seems to have slowly but surely started to bring him back to what made him such an intriguing villain to begin with. Sylar is back to his old self rather and that is definitely a good thing. Finally I can start routing for this character again.
While I am not a big fan of all the ability resets that went on in 'Villains' I think that, for Peter, it is a good foundation to build upon. Peter is, more or less, back to where he was in season 1, reevaluating his life. I think Peter will get the ability to hold onto multiple powers again but it will be difficult. The writers really started to let Peter's ability run wild in season 2, now I think he will have to evolve more slowly and that will be more interesting. In volume 2 Peter had almost gotten to the point where he had no limits, so it seemed stupid when he got in a tough spot or when others were able to fool him. It just didn't make sense. Now that he has limits again the his story should be more interesting.

heroes has a couple of problems. first peter has been searching for answer since season 1. please give him some then maybe the character will be able to do his job as a hero. they also made the mistake of making the villain(sylar) more likable than the hero(peter). who does that? now you can't kill your villain which is what every story needs. for the hero to kill the villain in a very nasty final battle. they also need some romance, and im not talking about that matt and daphne crap. they need to introduce a love interest for peter who would help become what everybody wants him to be. they need to build every hero around a newly reformed peter. as for sylar i have two words season one.

I like sylar and peter but i want to know what would happen if peter touched 'touch and go baby'. And what about that girl that he met in season 2 that scottish lookin girl that got stuck in the future. What happened to her, peter promised to go back and get her but it dosen't seem that he even cares anymore. But , even though peter is my most favorite character, i still agree with ginisfly saying that he needs to stop lookin for answers and just accept who or what he is or at least give him some answers so he can get going and save everyone. But you rock heroes writers and keep up the good work.PETER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say, I really can't stand Danko. And I still don't understand why Nathan wanted to round up all people with abilities?? What possessed him to do that in the first place....?

i'm so tired of Claire. I agree with some of the other posts, that it's really about Peter and Syler. But, I really miss Daphne. I suppose I root for Peter. But I hate to admit, I'm quickly loosing interest in everything. I dont' care much anymore.

i just want sylar to show his real colours again and become a sadistic killing machine, i mean at the moment he is rather dull. i also hope that peter gets all his powers back( i mean he should have absorbed his fathers powers when he came into close proximity with him, like he does with every1 else so really he could never have lost them in the first place) then i want a massive super power fight between him and sylar with all powers on show......... i've been waiting to see that since series 1 that could be an episode in itself right there ........... where are the super fights

Wow, I'm the only one on this board who absolutely HATES Peter and Sylar. They are too dull, too 2-dimensional, too predictable and their character development throughout the show has shown them both to be the most inconsistent and characters the show could have and that (along with other things) make me think we have a team of ADD manic-depressive writers who don't know how to live up to those who wrote the first two seasons. :(
I think nearly every character I liked on this show was killed off-- Isaac, Simone, The Invisible Man (technically just written out), Kord, Adam, Elle.. probably others that would have been fun to watch be worked out over more episodes but were abruptly killed off.
They built up Ecco with webisodes only for his actual screen-time to be less than 30 seconds and I was interested to see where they were going to go with the Captain America character they spent the first half of the show leading up to, only for them to immediately dump him after about 1 line.
Sylar has already had 3 perfect deaths on the show, so when they eventually write him out there is just no way it can't be anticlimatic. Danko has just been totally torn down in the last couple episodes from a potentially dangerous enemy to a total hopeless klutz who sometimes gets lucky.
I guess the only characters left for me to root for now are Bennet and Hiro/Ando team. Maybe Mohinder can be built back up again too... but the more focus goes onto Sylar and the Petteris, the less interest I have in this show.

I have to agree that Hiro and Ando are the best by far. At least they are fun to watch. I really enjoyed the unique sweetness of Matt but without Daphne he's just another angry whiner like so many of the others. Sylar needs so many powers to make it a fair fight between him and all the others but the pairing of him and Danko doesn't make sense. They have not given us any reason why Danko would put aside his extreme prejudice to allow Sylar to gain so much power just for a partnership. It was not worth losing Pushing Daisies writer for a script that includes a scene where Noah allows Danko to be the one to check the body to see if it is really Sylar that he has killed (and shouldn't he have shot him in his weak spot?) just after he has accused Danko of being in league with Sylar.

Peter was the hero, the main character that everybody (or at least I thought so) loved, but now that he has limited powers. Its getting a bit boring - though like someone above said, it was necessary. I think the writers should introduce more romance, probably involving Peter, although, more main characters (which she would be) might put viewers off.Sylar was always the 'baddie' that everybody loved, then in season two/three (I can't remember) Sylar starts turning good and tries to 'find himself' and stop the craving. THEN he just goes and turns evil again... Where exactly is he headed and will he just change again?Matt Parkman + Claire Bennet = pass me a gun so I don't have to listen to this constant whinging. I used to like Claire until she started turning all "I can't just sit here, I have to be a hero and help". Daphne needed to die but Matt's recent 'revenge' against Danko was just weird; the writers could have come up with something better.Mohinder in the first two seaons was a really important character but in this season he has no particular aim... yet.Hiro and Ando are definitely the most enjoyable characters to watch. Enough said. Actually no, they need another mission, baby touch&go was hilarious and cute but Hiro needs to get his powers fully back and then the writers can go make him do something cool.I loved Nathan, well I thought he was pretty cool, until he turns from 'lets give powers to everyone' to 'lets lock up everybody with powers', the writers gave no real reason as to why Nathan did this and it seemed so very out of character.Noah Bennet is a very stable character who's thoughts/feelings/ideas have developed tremendously throughout the show. Great, amazing, constant character.
I think that there were many characters that were great and shouldn't have died, these are: Nikki/Jessica, Isaac, Elle and Adam Munroe - Adam's death particularly annoyed me, at the beginning of season two he was this impossible character to kill/capture and then he just dies in the most boring way..
Whatever happened to Lisa (I think her name was - the one that could learn muscular actions, she was awesome), guy-who-could-breathe-under-water and guy-who-could-fly-and-Claire-dated? Lisa could have stayed in the show a lot longer. And, very importantly, what on earth happened to CAITLIN - the Irish girl that Peter loved so dearly yet still managed to leave her in the future and forget about her? Well the writers obviously made a big booboo but its just a bit too late to bring her back into the story now. Also, you know in season one Hiro met that girl in the diner, the one that could learn things really easily and then Sylar cut her head and took her power? The writers have failed to incorporate this power into Sylar's life in season three, and in several circumstances it would have been useful for Sylar. Same with the super-hearing power.
So I sound really critical but I do actually love Heroes! I think my favourite character right now is... - Ok I find it hard to choose so I'll say a few: Hiro, Ando, Noah and Peter.
