Cancellation Buzz: Can 'Heroes' Save Itself with Season 4 Plans? - Featured

If you've been annoyed with Heroes' 3rd season, so far we've heard pleas from Heroes star Masi Oka to keep watching as a lot of what we're seeing is "merely in the process of building up intensity en route to a very exciting volume," and have also gotten a little sneak peek into the plans for Season 4 from EW.com that goes like this:

"Fuller says the final moments of the season 3 finale will set the stage for what's to come in the fall. 'Basically, the last act of episode 25, similar to what's been done in the past, opens up a new chapter of Heroes. It sets up arcs for a variety of characters.'"

"That's particularly true in the case of Claire, Fuller says. 'We set all the pieces up in terms of Claire's attitude and what her trajectory is going to be in season 4. You will have a very strong idea by the end of this season's final episode where Claire is going and what's going to be happening with the Petrellis.'"

Personally, I don't care what Claire's attitude is about, I'd prefer it (and maybe her) just go away, but all the Petrelli drama played up does sound almost compelling enough to keep me going. How about you? Are the plans for the rest of Season 3 and for Season 4 compelling enough to make you wavering fans care about Heroes again?

I have loved season 3 completely (but some ep where better than others) and even if it is not as good as season one heroes still remains one of the best shows on television, with its special effects, characters, art work and plot twists each week keeps you guessing. My hats off to NBC for renewing the show (like the network has any better dramas) and can't wait for season four.

If the writing, in it's most basic form doesn't get better I won't watch next season. It's getting too much like lost where I'm left asking questions after every episode. I loved the first season; tell me where you are going to go and go there -- I'll follow you for the ride. Right now I couldn't even tell you if there were tracks, let alone a ride and the ratings show it.

I plan on sticking around to the end - whenever that may be.

I didn't think season three was that bad. I have now accepted that it's never going to be season one-style again, and that's ok. Some things failed in season three, but i'll definately keep watching if it gets a 4th season, which I really think it should.

I think its about time for all the the Patrellis to just leave already (except Peter he must stay) Angela is predictable and Nathan is just plain annoying. Peter needs to get his full power back because really, we know Sylar will need a worthy opponent here eventually and no one can really do the job but Pete. I am excited for every episode to come because Heroes is one of my faves!

why would you want claire to go away that would butcher heroes and it would be canceled she is the second main charecter to peter and she has the coolest power and is the strongest next to sylar that would be bullshit if she died

iv'e liked this season alot and will follow the 4th. compared to other shows on tv this is a strong series. all that needs to happen is hiro regaining his powers and returning to his more comedic role which broke up the serious scenes and for peter to get his original powers back so we have a counter-protagonist for syler

but don't they say this about every season since season 2?

This show was brilliant - but they have destroyed it because they've destroyed the central characters --- I don't care about any of them anymore (w/ the exception of maybe Sylar) --- season 3 is too painful to watch - they've turned away a lot of viewers, and the whole "just hang in and it will be good" mentality does not work on tv...they've essentially signed their death certificate bc the people like me who aren't watching anymore are not going to watch season 4.

I think the show started off really well, with the near-indestructible shadow of a villain and a group of unknowing good guys in development. But as soon as they gave every bad guy a name (sylar, the company, primatech etc.) they gave up all suspense and lost their stranglehold on us, the audience. They must not have thought they would survive more than two seasons, because in the third season, the just started filling in peoples pasts in a way that allowed them to completely change their personalities without us noticing it (which bugged me a little, but on the hole just made it more interesting^^).Their biggest flaw though, was making sylar relateable, in doing so they've turned everyone off of killing him. destroying the last ultimate battle possibility! The only way to do that now is take a whole other 2 seasons to create a new villain, filling him in to the point of understanding (but keeping even the most sadistic fans away from liking him); or take another season to make sylar hated again (which would, bare minimum, involve him running around killing for the sheer pleasure of it, as opposed to his 'hunger'), whereas the super Quinto fans (like myself) might stop watching the show competely. Next to that, plot holes, and character fall out are hard to notice (and who cares if some of the characters came to terms with their abilities, and learned to live normal lives, without taking up air time).Brilliant as they are, the writers have written themselves into a corner with sylar. If he finally sways to good, any other villain they create to challenge him (backed by the new company) would be unrealistically powerful, but sylar as a bad guy would eventually have to be killed off (otherwise, they've created a typical childrens villain, who at the end of every episode walks away fists shaking, shouting "I'll get you next time!").Despite the Sylar conundrum, I'm really looking forward to the next season (maybe we'll finally get to see a fight scene!! XD)
P.S. in contradiction to what i just wrote, I've heard a lot of complaints about a lack of fight scenes. What people don't realize is that heroes is aired almost weekly and a fight scene between peter and sylar would take months to animate (hint to Tim Kring: you could fit plenty of good fights in to a feature length film... just sayin')BTW, sorry if this comment is waaaayyyy to long, I've been watching heroes for three years, and have never been able to communicat with other fans, so once again, sorry^^
