Heroes Cancellation Buzz: Winter Return Met with Ratings Plummet - Featured

Heroes' ratings have been dropping all season, and after its winter return last night, it's looking more and more likely this season could be Heroes' last.

Back in its heyday, Season 1 averaged around 16 million viewers, and it has only dropped since, starting Season 4 this fall with 6.1 million (more), then ending its fall chapter with 5.9 million (more).

The slow but sure drop was reason enough to believe Heroes was dropping into its cancellation, but now with its 2010 winter return last night only bringing in 4.9 million according to EW's Ratings Report, I'd say it's official that this one is on the edge of cancellation.

I'll admit I'm also hoping it is the end considering I found the big hyped 2-hour return last night really hard to get through, and even the usually redeeming Sylar storyline was not that thrilling. It seems the show is just going in circles trying to figure out how to redeem itself to viewers instead of focusing on telling the story they'd laid out to tell.

So with those ratings and the way this season is going, my vote is to find a decent conclusion and end it this year.

What's your vote? Are you part of that million who have just stopped watching? Are you still hoping for the show to find its way and get stronger, or are you like me - still watching, but ready to wrap it up?

I'm very sad to hear about these poor ratings of one of my all time favourite show.
I found the first of the two episodes pretty boring. Nothing new, nothing exciting happened. I watched it only few hours ago and I still pretty much can't remember what has happened in there.
Though, the second episode was WAY better. Finally some Sylar & Peter action (although, still separately - I'm still waiting for some good old Sylar/Peter fight). I think they might be up to something interesting with Sylar going after (?) Claire again.
One thing is still really unclear to me, or I'm just way too confused - what's up with Peter's powers? I'm not really sure what he's capable of right now - can he still absorb other heroes' powers? then why can't he heal himself with Claire around? I'm really, really confused.
One more thing - was I the only one who felt really awkward seeing Milo & Hayden together so much this episode?

I haven't watched yet. I'm going to write, then eat something, then I'll watch. Season One, that order would have been different, but then, in Season One we were looking to save the cheerleader and the world; now I'm not certain what we're trying to do, or why.And Samuel, what's up with that? They didn't have time to create a new and interesting villain so they borrowed one from "Prison Break"?I'm not yet at that point where I'd be willing to pull the plug, but I haven't been lighting any candles either. Unless it gets a transfusion from Clair, there ain't no way this show's gonna recover.

Im sad to hear that.
I love samuel role, but some things dont click. They gotta do a lot more sylar, a lot of peter, a lot less claire and a lot more action and the show would get back on his feet.

I want more Peter and I would like Emma's story line to go further than it has so far. But I think they should be trying to wrap it up soon, its kind of lost its pizzazz.

I had hope when it finished for the holidays, but after the 2 hour return I just feel like I'm watching it only to find out how it ends, basically just because I've stuck with it this far. I'm really sad about how the show has turned out because during season 1 it was basically the most exciting show on television, it's just so hard to believe how quickly a show can plummet.

I can't even get up enough enthusiasm to watch it this season. I hate the Samuel character, annoying and no point to him, find Hero's character becoming more and more irritating, esp. w/ his obsession with this charlie character...they turned a hopeful hero into a lovesick idiot. The only characters I do still like are Peter and Sylar and the writers all but took away their powers, crippling the best two characters on the show. More Peter and Sylar action and less Hero, clair and bennett, and the stupid carnival idea. I can already see how they are going to end it...Kill Samuel with all the heroes getting together, then have them all join the carnival... travelling forevermore....no more worries.

I am about to watch ep 12 I think but let's be honest it jumped the shark after season 2, and the writer's strike killed it. I only watch it out of habit to see the ending and for those few moments when it reminds me how good season 1 & 2 were and how excited they made me. They need to put it down!!

I say just end it. I have this on my TV schedule and I save it for the very last of all my TV shows before watching it. There is absolutely no thrill in watching it, nothing worth noting ever happens. I think its been ready to be put down since the start of this season, I wish they'd just do a quick track and get it to Armageddon with bad ass Hiro already.
