The Office Featured Review: Post-Super Bowl 'Stress Relief'

Many comedies that have gotten post-Super Bowl episode spots have left fans disappointed with episodes over-packed with guest stars and too much effort to go over the top because of the big placement, but I felt like The Office post-Super Bowl episode, 'Stress Relief' delivered in true hilarious Office style!

I was a little nervous about the guest stars of Jack Black, Jessica Alba, and Cloris Leachman messing up the usual Office chemistry and flow, and then more nervous when I heard they'd just be starring in a movie the employees were watching while at the office, but it turned out that not having them on set was good as it kept that office chemistry we know and love.

I think the best moment definitely went to the entire intro of Dwight creating utter fire panic to prove to all the employees that they needed to pay attention to fire safety, leading to Oscar jumping up into the ceiling, Angela throwing her file cabinet-living cat up into the ceiling after Oscar only to have it crash down a few panels over, and then causing a heart attack for Stanley. Okay so harmful and funny, but since Stanley was fine, it just led to more funny, so all's well that ends well.

Next we had Michael trying to create stress relief in the office by making everyone lie down in the conference room, and then setting off Stanley's heart monitor every time he moved near Stanley, realizing he was the one causing the stress. (Shocking!)

And so we were taken to the great roast of Michael Scott! What I loved about this was that it was over the top for The Office as you might expect and fear for your fav show's post-Super Bowl spot, but it was so well done in classic Office style that it was packed with everyone finally saying what they felt about Michael, but not in fighting words, but really lame roast ways, of course leading to massively hurting Michael's feelings which could not be more typical of The Office happenings.

So while Michael was off dealing with his hurt at the park, Pam was dealing with her parents' problems we'd been hearing about all episode as she, Jim, and Andy watched the pointless Jack Black movie.

The best that came of that fake movie was Andy thinking Jim and Pam were being very insightful about the film while instead they were just talking about Pam's parents' problems, but the very, very best that came of that whole situation was that though sadly Pam's parents are splitting, we got the hugely adorable moment of Pam telling Jim it was his fault that her dad was leaving her mom - but not because Jim's an idiot with relationships, but because Jim told her dad how he felt every time Pam walked into a room, and how he's never doubted for a moment that she's the one he wants to spend his life with... so, so adorable! And then my very favorite moment of Pam telling the camera that when you're growing up, you always think your parents are soulmates, which is not always the case, but when her kids think it, they're going to be right.

So sweet! I love how genuinely sweet Jim and Pam are and I'm thrilled that her parents breaking up didn't lead to her freaking out about marriage and messing things up with Jim which would be tragic!

So after that, we wrapped up with Michael returning to do an terribly put-together roast of each person in the office including that Stanley crushed his wife during sex and his heart was bad - all of this leading to Stanley cracking up, and Michael thrilled he was curing Stanley with laughter, the best medicine of all.

With all this, I found no disappointments with the episode, so what did you think? Do you think the post-Super Bowl episode delivered just right or did you find some disappointments?

Some great quotes in the episode too...I think I loved most in the roast when Pam announced that if Michael's...member...were an iPod...it would be a shuffle!

Haha the line about the iPod was so well delivered too.
Yeah, the episode was great! I was nervous about the guest stars as well, but it turned out that they hardly mattered.
And so much Pam and Jim awesomeness!
