The Office 'Price Family Paper': Hot or Not? - Featured

While The Office has always featured the employees doing ridiculous things to waste time at the office, this week's "Is Hilary Swank hot or not?" debate was almost right up there with the Office Olympics!

We may have started out the episode with the usual Jim prank o' the week as Dwight discovered a red wire going over his desk that Jim planted 500 feet of all the way outside and up a telephone pole, but beyond the first few moments of the episode, Stanley and Phyllis' fight over whether Hilary Swank is hot or not totally took over and expanded into an entire debate with sides and PowerPoint presentations. Wow.

So, I wondered watching this episode, do The Office people have to get permission from an actor/actress to feature him/her like that? And if not, wouldn't it be a little surprising to be Hilary Swank sitting around your mansion, turning on your fav Thursday night comedy (she seems like a woman who would appreciate The Office, right?) and find out your hotness level took up half the episode? If anyone's aware of the process here, please fill me in so I don't worry about The Office getting sued anytime soon.

But despite that confusion, I have to say the debate was pretty hilarious as we had Oscar with a pointer showing how Hilary's face is pleasing because of its symmetry, but that does not make her hot, Jim pretending to be Hilary hitting on Kevin, and best of all, Stanley talking the most he ever has as he explained that the old pessimistic Stanley would find something to complain about with this actress, but there's only so much life we get, she's attractive, sexy, young, and healthy, so therefore... she. is. hot.

Meanwhile, the reason for the extensive debate was that Michael and Dwight were out of the office researching a small local paper company, Price Paper, with Michael "under cover" as a local business owner interested in becoming a client, and Dwight pretending to apply for a job there, leading him to tell family man owner that he should fire his son, because now he (Dwight) was his son and employee. You can see that son at Christmas.

But the best moments of all to this paper field trip was Michael and Dwight prepping out in the car mentioning they were sharks then going full-on Jaws music... dun nah... dun nah... with Dwight taking it farther than Michael as usual, plus after their visit, Michael felt so bad reporting about the Prince Paper Company to Corporate since it would probably help put them out of business, that Dwight actually had to chase Michael around the office and around outside to stop him from destroying their research.

So, will we end up with Michael feeling awful but with a promotion by taking down Prince Paper, was this all we'll hear of it all, or will the Prince fam end up getting bought by Dunder Mifflin and come to work for Michael, making him look like a moron for going under cover?

This episode was not the greatest of all, but definitely had its hilarious moments in the debate and the paper field trip, though I am disappointed we didn't even get a hint of further Dwight-Angela-Andy development.

What did you think? Was "Prince Family Paper" hot or not?

Excellent episode! My farorite parts where Stanley's speech, and how right after Dwight and Michael run through the office and then outside, there's a cut straight back to the people in the office still debating whether Hilly Swank is hot ro not, completly unfazed by Michal and Dwight's behaviors.
As for having to get the actresses permition- the answer is no, they don't need it. This is a legal issue. She is considered a public figure. The rights for her pictures needs to be obtained (from whoever took the picture- not from her, if they where taken in public venues. Private pics are a different matter), but discussing her is allowed. That being said, Hillary Swank may have very much been the choice because someone in the show knows her, and thought it would be funny, etc...

now how does that work exactly? i thought only elected officials were 'public figures.' otherwise, don't you have the right to bar the use of your image (regardless of how it was obtained) for any public use? maybe for actors its different, or maybe reusing an old publicly approved image is ok, but ultimately doesn't she have some sort of veto power (likeness rights or something)?
anyway, my favorite moments in this one were Kelly's breakdown over her not being hot, and Angela calling Hillary Swank 'hot as heck.
