Welcome to a new week of TV!
And now... it's the final week of TV finales! The only regular season show left to have its finale after this week is Glee, which will just barely tide us over until our fav summer shows start. So enjoy the week of thrilling finales, and don't forget to check our Summer TV Premieres Schedule to see when you can ease your TV sadness with awesome summer shows!
Lost: The Final Disappointment
I know everyone's just about all talked-out when it comes to the Lost series finale, but since I noted in last week's column how psyched I was for the finale, I thought I'd give a brief follow-up and declare I am among the disappointed. Yeah, yeah, I know it's impossible for a show so hyped up with its mysteries and reveals to have a satisfying ending, and I will say I liked most of the 2 1/2 hour episode, but I was super annoyed with the actual conclusion to the show. And... I still don't get it. I'd previously said that I'd be fine with the finale as long as it didn't end up with it being that they're all dead, and well, sure, the island events really happened, but to still have them all be dead and meeting up at the end? Here's my big sigh for the lack of inspiration behind that. I'll always love the journey of Lost, but I'm also going to remain the obnoxious, never-satisfied super fan because they made me that way! What did you think? Did you love it or hate it?
Exciting Episodes of the Week
Chuck - This time it's the real deal - Chuck Season 3 finale! Since NBC had originally ordered 13 episodes for Chuck's 3rd season then ordered more, we already got the original season finale, and now we get another! While I feel like they floundered with the episodes after the original finale, last week's episode seemed to get back in stride and also definitely felt like a lead-up to a great finale. I'm very intrigued to see what will happen with Ellie now that she's gotten involved in the spy world, and also if we'll get any Chuck-Sarah developments or other cliffhangers. It's so nice to be able to enjoy it all with the knowledge that next season is a go!
How I Met Your Mother - Baby Marsh-Lil?? Do they have a couple name or is it pointless when it basically just ends up being Marshall's name? Anyway about it, I'm excited to see how Marshall and Lily's secret pact to start trying to have a baby goes as I'm sure that'll be funny... until they really have a baby and there's the danger of them being the new lame Jim and Pam. But, since the finale's focused on them starting to try and also the possibility of finding Barney's doppelganger, it sounds like there's still plenty of funny! And it looks like there could be a hint of a cliffhanger from the episode summary's mention of Robin getting an offer for her dream job. Could we be left with the possibility of Robin moving away from the gang?
Glee - Glee goes gaga! The only thing more exciting than NPH's guest star appearance last week was the promo for this week's Lady Gaga-themed episode (and the fact that we get 2 more Glee eps)! I'm a bit nervous because I felt like they overdid it with the excessive songs in the Madonna ep, but looks like there are less songs for this Gaga episode, so as long as there will be plenty of plot along with the fun music, I'm all about it! I'm also excited to see where they go next with the Rachel mom storyline - and while we're at it, can we actually meet her dads?
Parenthood - This is one of those finales that's exciting because it's been a fantastic first season, but disappointing because it's been a fantastic first season and I'm not ready to let it go for the summer! This has been a surprise favorite for me out of the new freshman shows, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how all the family drama and love wraps up for its first chapter and gets us ready for the second. It's a show with one strong theme of family, hardships, and finding the humor in it all, so I'm interested to see if that'll just continue to be the focus for Season 2, or if some new angle will peek its head out in the finale.
What are you most looking forward to this week on TV?
