*Season Finale Spoilers Included!*
The Ugly Betty finale teased us of guest appearances from Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell that lasted about a minute each.
But not to worry, we got plenty of drama and excitement from another little (and not famous) guest star in the form of a French boy who popped up to tell Daniel he was his son!
That's unexpected! Especially since it wasn't part of Wilhelmina's evil scheme until she got wind of it later and made it so.
After all Wilhelmina's done to the Meade family, for her to have hooked Alexis back into her evil plan and so to have so easily gotten Daniel out of MODE for a mere illegitimate child appearing? Silly and tragic.
But I must ask why Daniel really believed that letter from the kid's mom as sealing the deal on it being his kid. Unless someone proved it was her handwriting, wouldn't he still want the results of the paternity test? I guess he just decided to be a good guy about it.
But besides that drama of Daniel out, evil Willy in, we got plenty of romantic drama for our dear Betty! It was pretty expected that Betty couldn't just be done with Henry like that, but in the beginning of the episode, she seemed so chummy and happy to go along with the whole Gio thing, it seemed she was just moving on!
Yes, she told Gio she wasn't ready for much yet, but if Henry hadn't shown up, would Betty just have gone off to Rome? I guess she didn't have much choice in the matter as far as choosing to be back with Henry at that point, but it sure did make a fantastic moment to have her arguing with her dad about going to Rome with Gio one minute, then her getting proposed to by Henry the next minute!
Now of course, there was no way we'd find out Betty's choice at the end of the finale, but I did really like that she made a choice instead of picking neither or something silly like that.
While there's been this on-going flirtation with Gio, can that really hold a candle to her love for Henry? They were so sweet and in love, but has this whole baby ordeal made Betty realize things just will never be right for them?
I think she needs to give the Gio thing a chance before doing something like going off and getting married, but I'd also hate to see her lose Henry after all they went through. So torn! Why, oh why must finales always leave us like this??
But maybe this is an obvious choice as far as the show goes because we can't have Betty off in Tucson with the rest of the cast in New York, and literally in New York as they've decided to move the show to the Big Apple next season for taping.
That doesn't exactly say, hey, our main character moved to Tucson! So, this either means Betty chose neither guy (annoying) and went off on a trip by herself, she chose Gio and went to Rome, or she did choose Henry and went to Tucson, but by fall, will have decided it's wrong and will have come back.
Or maybe she and Henry will actually try to do the long distance thing, though that'd be just continuing the tension between Henry and Gio.
Surprising how there are actually a good amount of possibilities here!
Plus, we were left with Hilda taking a chance on a married guy - now he's adorable and probably this will work out well, but it's a little hard to see Hilda jumping into a possible heartbreak after the enormous Santos heartbreak.
This was definitely a great finale with some good unpredictable moments, some predictable but still very good moments, and a couple of great cliffhangers leaving us dying for more all summer! We'll miss you, Betty!
