It has been nearly a year since the season two finale aired and fans of the philandering, fashionable crew at Sterling Cooper want answers.
Did Betty have the baby? Did Joan marry her abusive fiance? How is Pete holding up now that he knows Peggy gave away their child?
Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) admitted to Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) that their office fling produced a child. Betty (January Jones) told Don (Jon Hamm) she's pregnant, and ever confident Joan (Christina Hendricks) was raped by her intended.
The lasting effects of these twists on the characters is anyone's guess. The clever folks at AMC have kept the upcoming twists under wraps. (The network hasn't even aired a trailer with preview scenes.)
But a paparazzi photographer did manage to capture one telling tidbit from the set.
The image shows Don and Betty getting into a car with a baby.
So she did have the baby?
Not so fast.
"Mad Men" is fond of flashbacks. Bloggers theorize this picture could be nothing more than a scene looking back at happier days in the Draper household.
Until now, "Mad Men" has been a celebration of bad behaviors veiled in curve-hugging dresses and dapper suits. It is probably safe to say Don and company will be dealing with the fallout of post-Kennedy America.
The season three poster supports this in a symbolic sense. Don is shown sitting in his office waist-high in water.
This could be the end of the charade and the start of an ugly morning after.
It's about time these folks got a hangover.
