I've been bored with some of the 90210 storylines lately with nothing big really happening besides the arrival of Naomi's sister and dealing with Silver's breakdown, but wow did this finale ever pick up the drama!
In last night's finale, 'One Party Can Ruin Your Summer,' (what a perfect and actually understated title), I loved seeing Naomi stand up to her sister, though clearly it was going to lead to something terrible, then with no question ditching her own party to rush to Adrianna as she had her baby. It was very sad to see Adrianna's struggle after giving birth, but kudos to 90210 for what I would imagine would be a very realistic portrayal of how difficult it is to give up a baby.
I also thought the comic relief of the Wilson parents getting high from after-prom pot brownies was great, and helped avoid what had previously seemed obvious of Harry figuring out the party and busting it up. It was also interesting to see Kelly's crush on Harry come out, but I'd rather not have it lead to anything, but just leave it at an extra bit of intrigue for this finale.
Otherwise, the fall of Liam to Jen was not a surprise since we already knew Jen was manipulative and was fine with taking advantage of Naomi. But really? Can she be that big of a bitch to happily sleep with her little sister's teenage boyfriend, meanwhile tricking him into thinking she was the neighbor and had heard all the girls gossiping about his secrets? Is she really so awful to not only do that, but to frame one of Naomi's closest friends?
Well, apparently that answer is yes. I wonder if Jen had known where it would lead Annie that she would still do it, but I'm afraid she just might. But it sure would help in that decision to know exactly what it was that happened to Annie... we saw her driving post-volcanic meltdown with a bottle of vodka in her passenger seat. Then we saw/heard her hit something as she gazed at the vodka, then immediately, seemingly aware of the car right behind her, sped away with something looking very much like a body on the road.
My guess is that if it was a person, it was Ethan because he's leaving the show, but I feel like it was so oddly set up, and Ethan's already going to Colorado leaving an easier option like him deciding to stay there, that it seems weird to kill him off like that. Also, I'm not sure how the timing would work out as it was light out when Annie was driving, but dark when she left the party and called the cops. She had time to drive along chugging vodka for a while as the sun came up, and I'd assume anyone at that party took off pretty quickly. So if Ethan were for some reason walking home, could he have been along that road after it had gotten light out?
Also, what happened after Ethan and Silver talked (and made out)? It seems this left an opening for Silver to either freak out or find clarity by breaking up with Dixon, and deciding to be with Ethan who may or may not have been killed by his ex-girlfriend.
Oh the craziness! Now while I couldn't handle all that every week, that's the kind of drama I'm looking for in 90210! So now that we're left hanging with all sorts of cliffhangers, what do you expect we'll discover when we finally get to Season 2? Will Ethan be dead? Did Annie really hit and run? Will Naomi discover her sister was the guilty one? Share your thoughts!
