Cancellation Buzz: Should Chuck Move to the Sci-Fi Channel? - Featured

NBC has not given up on Chuck, but with Chuck's numbers hurting for the likes of this big network, is it time to consider if Chuck would be best on a cable network like it sounds will be the fate of another Cancellation Buzz favorite, Lipstick Jungle?

NBC looks like they are seriously considering keeping the failing Lipstick around, but not on NBC, but instead on one of the NBC-owned cable networks like Bravo or Lifetime. Another show actually canceled in the cancellation buzz zone, Pushing Daisies, now has fans campaigning for an AMC pick-up.

Chuck wouldn't quite fit for the primarily female demographic of Bravo or Oxygen, though many women like myself do love Chuck, it's just not the right fit or impression to put Chuck on one of those networks.

But would Chuck work instead on another cable channel like AMC or Sci-Fi?

What do you fans think? Should we start pushing our Save Chuck campaign in the direction of Lipstick Jungle and Pushing Daisies by campaigning for a cable pick-up?

I could be wrong, but neither Lifetime nor AMC are part of NBC Universal.
I could see Chuck ending up on USA Network, some how.

I do not understand, I keep seeing these things on here saying Chuck is in danger of being canceled. There was a story on tvguide where they talked with Chuck's creator, and he was talking about what was in store for the rest of this season, and he said there would be a big "game changer," in the season finale leading into the next season. If Chuck is in danger of getting canceled, it appears no one has told him.

It's not in danger of getting canceled immediately - it's definitely signed on for this full season. It's just looking iffy if it will get picked up for next season, so we're looking to push Chuck's awesomeness to hopefully help get it around for more seasons either on NBC or somewhere else if it would fit better.

Moving a show to sci-fi can some times give it more exposure. Like Firefly (another well loved show) people didn't know of it until it was gone and being shown on sci-fi. Shows that pertain to the demographic of one station like sci-fi would be better on that station. Its the idea that the major companies like Fox believe that they can show shows like Chuck or Firefly and expect to get the same response as with their other shows that astounds me. Why would I want to watch a reality show on their station if I prefer to watch action or sci-fi ? When most people already know of stations like sci-fi. Why would someone want to go through the risk of becoming attached to a show when they've witnessed its death multiple times on a station like Fox, its sad that people come to expect their shows to be canceled because a station cant handle that a smaller demographic of people watching one of their shows, its not like they should be to worried people have different likes that's whats makes us different. Meaning that most of the population may like one stile of show it does not mean all will.

one question, if it goes to sci-fi will it have less of a budget? Just wandering how these things work but i'm from the u.k and sci-fi isn't really that good a channel over here at all and it has alot of VERY low budget stuff, i know its bigger in the u.s but would the budget go down because this show needs to stay the way it is! in my top 3 easily

Keep it on however/where ever possible. NBC would be best - but move it to a more helpful time slot where it can grow it's aduience. AND PROMOTE IT BETTER - Put Zach and Yvonne on the late night talk shows, have them host Saturday Night Live. These are two attractive, talented, funny actors on a great show. I don't know how many people I've talked to about CHUCK who tell me they've never heard of it. Whatever needs to be done to keep it on, please NBC, DO IT. It's a GREAT show!!!

Do not get rid of Chuck!!! It is a great show (provided they don't royally mess up in the next season - plotwise).
Moving to the sci-fi channel would kill Chuck... I agree that with better promotion of the show, the numbers would drastically increase. I only started watching Chuck a couple weeks ago and am already addicted.
Has anyone heard anything new about whether they are still contemplating canceling it?

Chuck is easily one of my favorite shows and it is impossible that it would be completely canceled. Many stations will want to pick this show up. TBS would pick it up. USA would pick it up as it would fit its 'Characters Welcome' motto. Sci-Fi would eat this show for breakfast. I for one do not care if it stays on NBC or not, it would be their loss, not ours.

Sci-Fi or USA Network - definitely fits on USA I think. Or perhaps on Subway TV. (Because of all the shameless Subway embedded advertising lol)

Every time I find a show I love they end up canceling it and adding more of that reality crap. I love Chuck and would like to see it on ScyFy. Put it right after Eureka and I would be as happy as a pig in..... well you know what I mean.

I don't know what channel would suit it better, but yeah, it should probably be somewhere else.
As I understand it the numbers are not that bad but they are not the numbers big main TV stations expect. As someone already said, if you want to watch something that has a smaller audience (such as sci-fi) you do not go to the big channels, you go to those that targets that audience.
