As someone who's generally not a fan of vampire shows, True Blood just continues to surprise me as I get more hooked every episode! This week's episode, "Cold Ground," really intensified the issue of the murders in town as they stretched from a few girls who'd slept with vampires (and Jason Stackhouse), to poor sweet Gran. So very sad - and how very disturbing as we saw Sookie discover Gran's body at the end of the last episode by slipping on the excessive blood on the floor!
This week the idiot cops came along to check out the situation while Bill and Sam fought for who could win over soothing Sookie. The cops made it quite clear to Sam, and through their thoughts Sookie heard, that they believed the intended victim was Sookie. If the murderer is indeed going after those associating with vampires, that makes sense, and it also makes sense that they may have been coming to kill both Sookie and her grandmother since her grandma had just hosted Vampire Bill's history talk at the church.
It was fascinating, and sad with how very endearing she is, to see Sookie losing it over her grandmother's death, mostly because of the "circling buzzards," aka the gossipy townspeople, who came to give their condolences and food, or rather to snoop around and drive Sookie mad with their nasty thoughts she was unable to block out.
Poor Sookie! It was great to see Tara so defensive of her as we've already seen what close friends Sookie and Tara are, but this episode showed Tara in all her glory as the true blue friend plus a reminder that Sookie and her grandmother were like family to Tara.
This also made me wonder, though, later in the episode why Tara went to help her mother after Tara seemed very clear at Gran's funeral that she wasn't going to believe any of her mother's BS anymore. Of course it's her mother and anyone would have trouble being cold-hearted, but I would think she would be after the way she acted at the funeral. I guess we'll have to wait and see how that develops.
As for Sookie's experience at the funeral, she continued to have an impossible time blocking out everyone's thoughts in her grief, leading her to freak out and tell everyone to "shut the f*** up!" which of course the minister and religious town just loved!
Sookie also entirely gave in to her desire for Bill as she realized he was the only one she wanted to be with when she was in need of comfort. This led to the moment we've been waiting for since the moment Sookie became interested in Bill - her first time. Sex, vampire sex, and vampire biting - wow! As soon as she went to him, I figured if they slept together, she'd let him bite her, but the massive amount of blood made it far from sexy - for us viewing anyway, but they both seemed to enjoy it.
So now will Sookie become a vampire? I'm a bit confused on how it happens since for Bill, he was bitten by the vampire, then she said he'd die if he didn't drink her blood, so it was the bite in combination with him drinking her vampire blood that made him a vampire.
Now Sookie has already drunken Bill's blood, so now that he's bitten her, will she turn vampire?
Also, it looked like Jason was having some bizarre effects from the vampire blood - so much for him hating everything vampire! t was a bit odd that he was hyped up on V when he hit Sookie for associating with vampires and getting their grandma killed, but I guess it was just making him freak out in general... hmm.
So much I cannot wait to see more of next week!
