Smallville Review: Season 8, Episode 17 - Hex - Featured

This week's episode of Smallville was far more superior to last week's. We got a huge amount of Lois for a change (granted she was Chloe at the time) and we had an interesting villain that may just come in handy at future points through the season.

As always, I ached for some Clois moments this episode. And I was saddened to see Lois pretty much throwing the towel in on whatever the pair have. However, I suppose like any good TV romance, the chase is probably the most important part. In all honesty though, I still feel it is too soon since Clana ended, and I don't really think we will get any real Clois interactions until the end of this season at the very earliest. That being said, I still love the witty banter the pair shair, and it is their relationship which keeps the show that little bit more interesting.

As I expected, Chloe was very much in this episode, showing the fall out of last weeks bad few days. I did feel sorry for her at her own birthday party, and felt like she does get left behind a tad at times. I am glad now, that she has taken her life in a new direction, more on the path to doing good than searching for the truth. Chloe is a very multitalented woman to say the least and I am looking forward to her working with Oliver in the future.

I found this weeks villain more interesting than the usual ones. Zatanna (who is from the DC comics, I believe) wasn't necessarily bad, just misguided and far too focused on her own goals than the bigger picture. I always find it interesting when the writers focus on the magical aspects of Smallville and not the kryptonic, especially as it doesn't happen often. I'm hoping we'll see a bit more of her, next time a more magical villain appears...

The best aspect of this weeks episode was that it was far lighter. I laughed aloud when 'Chloe' attacked Clark so he could try and remember his true identity. Lois, despite not truly being in this episode much at all managed to get one of her best quotes for ages with, "One year closer to the sweet release of death..." I suppose though with such a light episode, next week's episode will be pretty dark, and I would be worried... except I have seen the promo and I'll be honest, it looks like the best Smallville episode in a while...

Overall, a light and entertaining episode. No Tess, nor no Davis but it was good to get a release from them for a change, especially Davis. Next weeks episode... well let me just say - I'm excited.

Excellent episode this week!!! and yes, it was right to have a lighter episode in after the last few weeks heavy and emotional episodes. I think Lois doesnt want to get hurt, she took a chance the day she got back and it back fired and hurt her more than she thought it would, maybe she doesnt want that.
Loved the fact that the Chloe we all know and love is back, the one who tells Clark who he is when he forgets and the one who is the master planner behind Oliver's justice league. It was nice to see her at her element instead of the boring and plain Chloe we have seen for ages.
Looking forward to next week's episode and hope it lives up to the hype it is getting. :)

I did feel sorry for Chloe in the beginning, though I'd expected she'd wished to be in Lois' shoes for the day, especially when they started from the feet go up (typical reveal).
My favorite scenes were when 'Chloe' attacked Clark with the pole. Sadly she missed lol, and when 'Chloe' as Lois fell into Clark's arms and he did give her puppy dog eyes. Oh! and the 'Framed List' lol. Cool episode indeed.

But clark always ruins it wen it comes to lois and saying how he feels. Why dont he just tell her i soo want then to get together.

I thought the Episode was cool and the ending was just excellent, it really was to see the league evolve and grow. I though Lois(as Chloe) was great some cool acting, switching between the two personalities. I hope this is the standard they stick too now for the rest of the season.

What did Chloe call herself at the end of the episode. If anyone heard it, I just couldn't hear anything over that Metal noise they used in the background.

@ M1screen - Watch Tower
Wow, other than Clark standing there like a dummy at the end, this episode was awesome! I agree with this review ;)
I love Oliver :P I still hope they'll do something in the future with like switching back and forth between the superman storylines and the green arrow/justice league storylines. Now that Chloe is involved with them, too, it'll be amazing. So excited!

i liked this episode! it was more light hearted!
agree with most comments..was like awww @ the framed list and when "lois" tripped into clarks arms! haha.
very excited about the ending!! the kickass music with Chole's expression of determination to face a new future as the "Watchtower" was great!..
which if u recall back a few eps...when those heros from the future came back to the past to help clark, in League ep?...why they said there was no mention of Chole in his "Superman" time. Maybe its because she doesnt die early but in order to be safe has a alias as the "Watchtower"??!!
that would be a interesting story plot if smallville ever reaches there.
