It occured to me in this episode how much Chloe has been irratating me over the past few weeks. When Rokk appeared and told Clark that basically he was going to die... because of Chloe's actions I sort of had a, 'this whole thing is her fault!' moment. She says she went with Davis to protect Clark, but she stopped him being sent to the phantom zone for no one other than Davis. If she had let him go then Jimmy would still be alive. And in all honesty I hope she realises the error in her ways next season, and we see a more loyal Chloe as I cannot help thinking she abandoned Clark for a while there.
One odd thing that struck me in this episode was Jimmy's funeral. While yes it was very emotional, especially with Oliver crying, I couldn't help notice the odd thing that came out of Chloe's mouth... "You must be Jimmy's little brother..." Am I the only one that finds it strange that you can marry someone and be in love with them, yet you have never met their family? That fact ruined the whole scene for me... as I was entirely distracted by that point...
Anyway, strangeness aside... We ended the episode with someone coming out of the orb Tess has been obsessing with. That person was surrounded by the symbol for Zod... which lets be honest is never a good thing. I am assuming Tess has no idea she is playing with fire to say the least, and it seems we may be having a season premiere involving a very angry Zod trying to destroy Clark. Hopefully before that happens Clark will realise he needs the people he loves around him, because although he is stronger than them all, Clark has always been someone who has needed something to fight for. And right now if he doesn't see the human race as something worth saving he may truly be at his weakest.
In conclusion, like I said not the greatest finale of Smallville. However, it did set next season up with some interesting storylines. I do think next season will be Smallvilles last, I am just hoping they maintain the high quality and we end the show on a high, with Clark finally making the transformation into Superman and seeing that the one he truly loves is Lois... Is that really too much to ask?
