Is Priviliged really able to compete with 90210 and Gossip girl?

Priviliged has been up for a while and now its time to see if the show is really going anywhere. How long can a show like priviliged last? when the show is really only about a tutor taking care about rich kids. The show itself is funny to watch and has a good storyline but can it really compete with the other shows?

Reasons The show could work?

- Priviliged has rich kids that are spoilt and have a glamorous life.

- (similar to gossip girl)

Reasons it might not work?

- Can the conflict between a tutor and rich kids really go on longer than 1 season?

- What happens when the Kids get into Duke will they still have a tutor.

- Megan is too inoscent and could have a greater sence of humour.

Interesting post, CWking. While I question whether the show will survive beyond this season due to relatively low viewership, I definitely think there's enough material to back up at least another season.First off, the girls aren't yet seniors, so High School can be stretched out however long is necessary. They also could spend a portion of the second season on the upcoming summer, where there could be a lot of fun stuff to work with, like travel and college visits.Also...I think the show is as much about the sisterly relationship of Rose and Sage as it is about their relationship with Megan, so that's a whole other dimension to the series with a lot of potential storylines. There's also the whole aspect of Megan's love life, which could be expanded as necessary.I do agree though that at times Megan can be annoyingly naive, but overall I think the show is pretty sweet. It's not as well written as Gossip Girl, but I've certainly also seen a lot worse on TV.Like I've said before, Privileged is definitely more family friendly than Gossip Girl, so I like it as a Gilmore Girls sort of replacement on the network for the younger CW viewers.I think there's absolutely room for both shows!

It was after Gossip Girl as a few weeks as a test; it actually airs regularly after 90210, though that's obviously no better.I agree that it's more of an 8PM show, but this is probably their attempt to grab viewers from the more highly-rated, preceding shows. If the show survived, I think it would be a nice fit on Sunday nights, which traditionally is (or was) more of a family-block on many networks.

I don't know, I just constantly feel like it's missing something. I had the same problem with Gossip Girl and 90210, though Gossip Girl has gotten better as of late. And Gossip Girl has sort of become a guilty pleasure for me because I must admit I can't stop watching (partly because of their amazing wardrobes and completely messed up characters)But with all three shows, when I started watching them I was like: well, this is not very intelligent.... no real content, I guess.I don't think you should be comparing Priviliged to Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls is on such a whole different level of smart, and it's safe to say there was nothing quite like it! Gilmore Girls was a truly great show...

yes I too think it's a good Gilmore girl show plus it seems to me no other show has taken the 'really family/romantic' credo, and the moral and the sweetness of it all, not to forget the gay couple! I like Megan character, I wonder how long the scenario of each episode might be, she is difusing a hundred words per second, and I don't know how long the treatment of the family disaster will take, but her portrait fits with many single ladies in their early thirties in need of a serious therapy. I like the totally non blond show too, how refreshing! I dont remember why I loved Gilmore girls I just did! So I would like to have a season 2 : there are so many stories to explore but a little bit out of the house, since everything is confined in it, spots of claustrophobia are rising! As far as this over dissection of any shows on air can seem nice, I just want to entertain myself and not being scared by a potential axing without any warning! I'm not a trader and all this speculation stuff tends to push me away from TV! I just love privileged!

i think privileged is a comedy drama, like someone already stated, it cracks me up a lot, and i think lil megan, although i know she's not lil, cos she's like 6 or 5 yrs older than i am, but i mean she is a really amazin actress, she reminds me of the anne hathaway and kate hudson types yu know what i am sayin,
and i think we shouldnt be comparing privileged to the likes of gossip girl and 90210, this being because, it is a whole different show, it should be compared singularly from gossip girl or the latter, it is nothing like gossip girl, although it has the same you know, rich hollywood or woteva to it, i feel it is a fun family drama, with alot of moral to teach, and i dont think alot of people see that.
i think privileged is a good comedy drama, with a lot of nice, fun, emotional twist to it. and i think it will go along way. this was how gilmore girls started, and it lasted what, 8 seasons or something like that. so i mean, it should be given some time, it is just trying to get out there, but when you have the likes of gossip girl, and 90210, it is in a stiff competetion for air time...but i think it will go a long way...
